I've done a lot of searching for tickets with presale and Amex.I really believe sales to non Stones fanatics are going to be surprisingly slow.Prices are outrageous no matter how you slice it.For a casual fan to pay $450 plus "extra fees of near$50 for delivery etc and sit three sections back in a large stadium such as Soldier is going to be a tough sell.A $1000 night for a couple. When they call or log on to Ticketbastard they will be shocked at these prices. The $162 seats go way back where in previous tours the price was $50-$90......They'll balk at this.... |

I totally agree. And as much as I love the Stones, I'm almost hoping for a public backlash (resulting in poor ticket sales). The prices are insane.
I also refuse to pay money to join a fanclub, merely for the privilege of buying tickets. And I'm a pretty diehard fan.
This tour is so overpriced, I'm pretty much just focusing my excitement on the new album.
Then again, I've never understood why everyone gets so fired up over the new tours vs. new studio albums. For instance, the "Bridges to Babylon" shows I attended are a distant memory. However, I still jam the CD all the time. It keeps on giving, you know? |

Just saw the interview on Today. What synergy...just happened to be on this very thread on RO and the segmenbt just happened to come on. I actually liked the Q re the American Idol mentality that exists in today's culture. Or to "sexy onstage". The Stones know. Weird seeing Mick AND Keith together. And man does Keith ever look wrinkled! |

Whoops! Wrong thread; well you know....I'm new here and got lost temporarily. Anyway was supposed to flow onto the "Today" thread. |

Yep, I have to agree with the outrageous ticket prices. When I was offered Section B5, row 28 for $450 a piece, I nearly fell off my chair. Do you know how terrible it is to be that far back when you're on the field? It sucks that diehard fans like myself can't get good seats because I just cannot afford it. Unfortunately, I think the Stones are going to find a bunch of rich, corporate suits in those seats who could care less about them and their music.
I ended up with Section 141, row 10 at Soldier. $160 a piece, plus the fan club fee.

A stadium show show isnt even worth $60 to me right now unless I am in the first few rows. If I decide to go however, I am still pretty confident I will get in for whatever price I will decide. |

I dunno, I remember Jan. 1998 MSG: row 1 of section 5 (second block of rows from stage), $300 per ticket... Seems close, but I was on the level of the start of B-stage!! Those prices were decided in '97, so 8 years and 2 tours ago...
I just know prices in Europe, when compared to the US are more decent ($130 for first row standing, 2 meters away from main stage, arena Holland 2003). However, prices in Europe compared to Euro prices of other acts are also more expensive. |

The MSG '98 prices were the first shows (apart from a couple of casino shows in Vegas in '97 and (I think) '94) where they seriously jacked up the ticket prices - I think they were something like $300, 200 and 100 whereas the price for shows throughout the '97-'98 American leg were generally about $65. Then they did that Hard Rock Hotel show in Vegas in February and I think ticket prices were $500 and $250. The final US show in '98 at the UC in Chicago again had very high prices, up to about $300 as some kind of 'experiment', even though other shows elsewhere on that mini tour were priced normally
the experiment obviously worked for them as the entire No Security tour the following year and all tours thereafter saw the start of the crazy price hikes we're now lumbered with. |

basic economic theory of supply and demand here folks, not too hard to figure out. why sell something at 70 bucks when there is a market at 400? |

beautiful line. thank you.
i'm gonna buy on expensive ticket for charlotte (hometown) ... but the cali shows i'm gonna do on the cheap. as much as i love them, i just can't justify these prices. it's a bit grotesque.
regardless - looking forward to the tour, y'all. |

understandable and quite reasonable if you need it.
Pointless when you dont.
You can still sell it at $70 and let people scramble for the tickets.
and people wonder with this logic why the Stones have such little credibility |

Today at this very moment even $70 is too much for a concert. As it is, let them charge whatever they want, it will be more fun for me when the people stuck with extras outside find out how much they are really worth! (And $74 was the final cost I paid for a $325 ticket in one of the softer markets last tour) |

I think anyone looking those really expensive seats for stadium shows will be able to pick them up below face value on the night of the show without too many problems |

The tickets prices are insane, they will play for half empty stadiums. |

That's the problem, they probably won't. Are you infected with the ghost of JB?? |

Same here, unless this was the last opportunity to see them EVER, I'll likely never bother going to a stadium show again, they're mistly pathetic affaires, especially if you're sitting in a chair ! |

One seat at one arena and one stadium in the USA. I will wait to see what happens world wide. There is a good chance that I can get airfare to Mexico City and a ticket for some of these prices, and certainly if they do manage China this time, from where I live I will save money by buying a plane ticket and a show ticket in the firt 10 rows than buying a single hotseat in USA! |

I wonder if i looked in the archives here, and saw the same kind of responses to the LICKS ticket prices?
People WILL pay, simple as that.
Though, i hope some sort of backlash happens. I really, really do. |

When I went online to scope tix for the Tuesday Fenway Park show, there was single tickets available. One was in section 23 for $102.00 plus $17 and change surcharge. All for a seat that is over 400 feet from the stage. I didn't purchase. |
|
time is on my side |
Just surfing through the Ticketmaster website and the early returns are in. It appears the paying public can't get enough of the Stones. At Charlotte and Atlanta, all of the tickets below $350.00 are gone and there don't appear to be too many of the $350.00 kind left that are decent except for scattered singles.
Stones Rule!! |

they make money in the US, if they would do that in Europe no one would come, I can't see ticket prices for a stadiom going over 100 euros, and we don't have seats, so the floor is GA |

Yes. People will pay. Look at the money Cher made on her farewell tours....and she hasn't even left yet. But seriously, it's only money.
There will be no backlash. |

Apparently not.......if sales are to belived and why not...this tour should set a new record far beyond VL in terms of "gross" revenue...Fitting term but if they can get it all the power. No one is forced to go its just free enterprise! |
