I agree that SMU is a piss-break song. But I'd still rather be at a Stones concert, staring at a urinal, than watch Prince.

Don't get me wrong; he's written some catchy stuff, and has more natural musical talent than almost anybody in rock. It just doesn't move me.

I remember Rich Robinson saying "Descending" was Prince-inspired. And I remember hearing Chris's "Could You Really Love Me" and thinking, "That's Prince all the way." I like those songs. So I guess I like it when the Robinsons do Prince -- when Prince is done with some earthiness, some handmade-ness.

But Prince himself sounds to me like synthetic dreck. What am I missing?
