its an exciting event. People gobbled up tix - same die hard fans probably grabbed as many shows as they could. With the varied set lists - these are must sees if you're a Prince fan.
Stones is the same old shit. The urgency just isnt there.
I've heard Start Me Up so many times its become a piss break song
I agree that SMU is a piss-break song. But I'd still rather be at a Stones concert, staring at a urinal, than watch Prince.
Don't get me wrong; he's written some catchy stuff, and has more natural musical talent than almost anybody in rock. It just doesn't move me.
I remember Rich Robinson saying "Descending" was Prince-inspired. And I remember hearing Chris's "Could You Really Love Me" and thinking, "That's Prince all the way." I like those songs. So I guess I like it when the Robinsons do Prince -- when Prince is done with some earthiness, some handmade-ness.
But Prince himself sounds to me like synthetic dreck. What am I missing? |
