purrcafe Any idea when these will go on sale?

On a related note, it kind of sucks that people who were fan club members for the Licks tour and who rejoined yesterday to get in on the 2005 tour don't get the same extra early pre-sale access that those who joined the fan club 2004-May 9th 2005 are getting.
May 11th, 2005 04:46 PM
Gazza I can understand that frustration but to be honest, those people who joined last year were shafted out of a $100 membership that was worthless and which never delivered

As far as I can see the early pre-sale access for those members only applies to those first few shows.

From the rs.com site :

05.10.05 Presale Information For New Members
New Members,

Welcome to the Rolling Stones Official Fan Club!

We know you've already received a welcome e-mail, but we wanted to give you some further information about when you will be able to use you passcode.

Please remember that if you purchased membership on or after May 10th, 2005 your new member presale passcode will not be valid for presales until the morning of May 12. On Thursday, May 12, at 9:00 AM (EST), new members will have access to the initial five on-sale venues:

Fenway Park
MCI Center
American Airlines
Philips Arena
Pengrowth Saddledome.

To find out future pre-sale start times for shows you are interested in, select the desired show from here and enter your passcode. TicketMaster.com will advise as to what time you should return to begin you presale.

We hope this clarifies the member presale process for you.

Cheers,

RollingStones.com

Dont know about the theatre shows. Last time it was easier to book because when they did a stadium/arena/theatre 'trifecta' they announced all three together and they went on sale simultaneously.

I just hope they dont announce them at short notice as a lot of folks (myself included) are hedging our bets re: long distance flights and using pre-sale access codes while we wait on them being confirmed

Dan The thing is there really is no reason to put a theatre gig on sale 6+ months in advance unless you just want to generate hysteria. I can easily see them announcing the theatre gigs at the last minute.

YES !!! ... Outstanding Analysis !!!!

The idea is to fill up ( completely sell out ) all the stadiums FIRST --- Then announce the fancy club / arena gigs at a later date .

mac_daddy system of a down has been selling out clubs the day or two before they play for the past week or two now...

they sell out almost instantaneously...

_____

i actually am hoping this pre/post separation continues, and the pre-may10 get first crack at a club gig ('cos you can only be pre-may10 once). i was shut out last time around, and dont want to miss it this time...

fwiw - the amex deal has been working fine thus far. save that premay10 code for when it counts...

plus if you get shut out, i think you get a refund on the club fee (unlike last time, when i ate $50 and came up empty)...

only problem with this strategy is that throbby says his passcode was stolen and already used (dont know the details, though). we are all SoL if that happens (or has already happened)...

OK, so, assuming I missed the pre-May 10 sign up, what is the best way to raise my chances of getting Beacon tix? Sign up for the FC now? Upgrade my Amex card? Invest in Boca Raton real estate?

Club shows would have no impact on the sales for larger venues. Really, other than that the band enjoys the smaller spaces, there is no reason, other than to create hysteria for them to play clubs. I'm just trying to decide whether it is worth using the FC pre-sale for tickets to the Garden, or possibly watching that sell out and then get shut out of the Beacon. Trying to shift into strategy mode!

gimmekeef I suspect there may very few if any club gigs.Just like the elimination of the B Stage I think that clubs may be gone too.Clubs for Licks was new and fresh created excitement and made for a better DVD product. This time they have a new album.I went ahead and used my presale to get Atlanta tickets betting there will no clubs especially near me.Kinda hope I'm wrong but didnt want to outfox myself...tough call...
May 12th, 2005 10:26 AM
Gazza It has been specifically stated that club/theatre shows will be priced at $50 so there WILL be some shows on that scale.

Aside from the warm up gig(s) and the rumoured casino show(s) in Atlantic City, I would expect there to be at least 4 theatre shows on the American leg of this tour

doubt the AmEX deal with apply for theatre shows.
Signing up for the fan club doesnt make any difference at this point. As long as you're in before the pre-sale starts

purrcafe How solid are the January MSG shows? Could always try for that if I miss out on the Beacon, and miss out on MSG in Sept. because I waited for the Beacon. Man, this is too complicated . . .

thats what I'm biding my time for as well, mate.

Giants goes on sale soon and I dont know what my plans for NY are until after I know for sure if I can get tickets for a theatre show - and if I do, I'll want MSG and Gianst which will already have been on sale and sold out. If I dont get a Beacon ticket, it might mean skipping september and coming over for January instead but having to re-sell Giants and MSG tickets (and TM tend to only sell to other countries as 'will call')

january will probably happen Ok. Cohl did say theyd tour from jan 7th to feb 7th in America. The rumours we have had so far about the concert venues have so far mostly been pretty accurate

You are allowed to buy multiple memberships I believe. It seems to me last time the theatre shows were a bait and switch to sell hundred dollar fan club memberships and overpriced arena/stadium tickets. Not sure what angle /motivation theatre shows might hold in order to maximize the bands profits. If they do do them, I suspect it will be at the last possible minute or sell tickets in some sort of "internet lottery" as someone somewhere else suggested might be the case.
May 12th, 2005 01:37 PM
purrcafe Yeah, I purchased multiple memberships last time so that I could go to a show outside the U.S. In so many ways though, the memberships are just a waste of money - not necessarily worth purchasing one, let alone additionals.

I am curious whether there has been any word that the theatre shows would be sprinkled among the other shows or concentrated in January/February. At the PC, Cohl announced they were not doing the 3-arena-in-in-one-city approach so that they could see more cities, but did not offer any details on whether the theatre shows would be part of the cross country tour.

Concentrating the theatre shows into one month means they don't have to know all the theatre show songs until then, but it also makes the logistics for a countrywide theatre tour more difficult.
May 12th, 2005 04:01 PM
mac_daddy they might just announce the shows a few days before they happen - have to go in person to buy tix the morning before type thing...

i really wouldnt be surprised...

i actually would prefer that route - that way you have to be the person that bought the tix, wristband stylee - no scalpers, just lunatics that will get there at the crack of dawn (or the night before), just like the old days...

i think it would be a classy throwback.

May 12th, 2005 04:40 PM
purrcafe Yeah, that whole wristband thing was kind of messy. I'd hate to think of myself camped outside the Beacon for a week though.
May 12th, 2005 06:24 PM
Gazza Cohl said at the press conference that they'll roll out ticket sales starting from this weekend and that in about a month the whole tour will be on sale.

I would like to think that means the theatre shows as well
May 12th, 2005 06:27 PM
Gimme Shelter I hope they play either the Filmore in SF or even the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. (I can dream)
May 12th, 2005 09:37 PM
Soldatti Sadly they never will play club shows here, it's imposible.
May 13th, 2005 09:01 AM
Bokes I'm confused.
Why would signing up for the fan club be a waste of $?

I signed up the day the tour was announced. The way I understand it- if a show at the Beacon is announced I will have pre-sale access to tickets. Yes?
That's what I was lead to believe I was paying for.

(I hope so- since I live two blocks away from the Beacon- it's the next best thing to having the stones show up at my front door!)

Who led you to believe that? I havent seen a single official mention of a confirmed theatre show among all the rumors.

He did state "IF" a Beacon show was announced..and what he stated is factually correct
May 13th, 2005 03:43 PM
Bokes yes- I know- big "IF"
but Jagger did say they would play some small venues and I did hear the Beacon rumour on this board and the same rumour was buzzing through the crowd at Juilliard as well.
Still just a rumour. It's a big reason I went for the $100 pre-sale code.
If it doesn't happen I'll hope for MSG.
