AlexKx I suppose us Americans here in the U.S. of a. would never be able to have the largest concert in the world for anyone even the second best selling group in the world The Rolling Stones, huh? With 300 million people endless resources and even fans...why not? What is wrong with us?

You supposition has no grounding in fact. As a nation, I think we can drink with the best of them.

AlexKx Well, then who are the second best selling group in the world? And what place are the Rolling Stones in total worldwide?
10th May 2006 11:07 PM
jb Stones are 10th all time in US with around 66 Million....I do not have their total world sales..I would think Beatles, Elvis, LZ, Slim Witman would be ahead..?

tookthatname you forgot The Wrecking Crew JB.

At least they are certainly #1 in terms of gold records.

corgi37 Take the "C" out of "CORGI" and we are off to a "ORGI".

Rome is dead. The Empire has crumbled. America will be like Atlantis. Under water and no dry socks. Await the arrival of the stirring tiger. Yes, China is coming. Coming to take away all that Ford, Colonel Sanders, The Jewish movie producers, Al Capone, Annie Sprinkle, Andy Warhol and all the citizens of Kalamazoo have put together.

The promised land is gone. Over. Might as well give old Bushy a beak, cause he's as lame duck as it gets.

tookthatname The Wrecking Crew were a group of studio musicians who earned their name because they walked into the LA music scene in the late sixties and early seventies and wrecked it for everyone else.

Some of the artists they played with were The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, The Monkees, The Mamas and The Papas, and The Beach Boys.

Hal Blaine, the drummer has over 300 gold records under his belt. More than anyone else. Other members were Sonny Bono, Glen Campbell, Leon Russell.

I think they might be the largest selling band, surely more gold records than anyone else.

corgi37 Will you please fuck off.

AlexKx Actually I am saying groups and not solo artists. I have understood that K.I.S.S. have the most gold records...well maybe I should state that this way. Gene Simmons claims that they have more gold records than the Beatles. I don't really understand that BUT I suppose that it doesn't mean that they have the most. I guess Ol' Genie means they have the most records that have have gone gold...I don't know. It's wacked figuring this out in my opinion.

tookthatname Gold and Platinum Records actually has nothing to do with sales. It's based on records shipped, not sold. record stores can return records within 90 days and they not pay for them, but they still count towards gold or platinum status.

My old teacher was V.P. Business Affairs (the company lawyer) for RCA, Casablanca, Motown and Playboy records and was the one who negotiated the recording contracts with Kiss.

BY CONTRACT their four solo albums all had to ship gold the first day. My teacher estimated that 90% were returned. He joked "somewhere out there, there's a huge warehouse overflowing with Kiss solo albums."
