Okay on the header today with the S tones at Battersea Pool,
I am thinking Brian Jones is on the harmonica, right? Now what
the heck is that thing in the water next to the "R" in Rocks Off anyway? It is on the left side of the letter "R" in Rocks Off down in
the water. I am just curious as to what that whatever is. Bye. |

Yeah, looks like some kind of water fowl.
Unreal pic. Just shows how much they changed within 5 years. |

Yes, It's Brian blowing it
I think the black thing is the reflex from the pool wall and the white one is a paper
In some days it will be 42 years ago old!! |

Time to change, I would love to leave this one for an additional day

It's Brian blowing WHAT?!! Now you really got a person lost here.
Does anyone know what the THING IS?? What is the deal with
trying to find out what that stupid thing in the water is anyway?
Maybe it the Battersea Sea Monster's offspring coming out of the
water to hear the fantastic music Brian is making?!
I guess no one has any idea what it is. Sorry I asked. If someone
comes up with a good answer just say it. Thanks much. |

HRT - brian's blowing an harmonica
i think voodoo is correct - the black line (thing) is a crack in the pool wall |

I just noticed they were right in front of the water. If so, where are the fans, or was it like a moat in front of the stage? |
|
Zack |
Sorry, I suppose it's a swimming pool, but a pretty ratty one for sure. |

This is what Nico Zentgraf tells us about this gig in early 1963
630504A 4th May: London, Battersea Park, Pleasure Gardens, 'Battersea Funfair'
Note: Charity concert organised by 'News Of The World'-newspaper.
Partly circulating on (silent) private film.
so maybe the owner of this silent movie can clear out the water thing ??

The strangest thing about this gig is that they have they're backs to the audience. Surely the only time they've ever done that! |

Theyve done that on loads of tours. Many shows in the 60s were like that, and even in later days - the No Security tour had several behind the stage tickets
I would imagine they had an audience in front of them too. Why else would they be facing that way. Plus, if the photographer was in front he would hardly be on his own! |

Ya know, if I had not known Brian was playing the harmonica
here, or whatever, I would swear he had a camera in his hand
held up to his face and taking a picture! But fortunately I know he
is playing the harmonica. I can see where it very well could be
a crack in the pool, but it sure is an optical illusion, really fooled
me! I can sure remember groups in the early and middle 60's
wearing suits on stage. Now it is almost anything goes.
Since Mick loves the young ladies, I wonder why he has not gone
after Paris Hilton? Or some of the young hot looking female singers today? Oh well what do I know........ |
|
Gazza |
Paris obviously isnt rich enough for Mick.
Either that or she's obviously too intelligent and talented in her own right and he'd feel threatened intellectually by this and her undoubtedly superior social skills |
|
Tom |
According to Bill Wyman the played facing the pool while the audience was dancing behind them.
Is May 4 or 11? If it is May 4th that is 42 years ago today
