The Rolling Stones to perform at Hayarkon Park
By CAMILLA M. BUTCHINS

The Rolling Stones are expected to perform in Israel for the first time ever, Channel 2 reported Thursday.

The Stones will perform at Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park around Rosh Hashana.

A month later, Britney Spears is also expected to grace the park's stage.

Concert organizer Shuki Weis, who was also responsible for organizing the Depeche Mode concert last summer (canceled due to the outbreak of the Second Lebanon War), told Channel 2 that these will be the biggest concerts Israel has ever known.

The alternative rock band Blonde Redhead and the legendary Iggy Pop and The Stooges are to kick off the summer with performances in Tel Aviv in July.

glencar Hmm, I have my doubts! August 26 is the last Stones date in London, right? And Roshahahahsnahanh is about a month later. Very, very suspicious.

Gazza Rosh hashana is Sept 12-14. It says theyre 'expected' to play 'around' then. Its not confirmed.

Even if its a week or so before that holiday, that still leaves a gap of about ten days after London.

Sales being what they are in many places, I cant see them adding what will be several extra shows at such short notice.

-----------------------

This really should be a worldwide package tour. That would be so awesome.

Worth remembering though that the Stones did have plans to play a few shows in Asia in spring 2007 before it went tits-up due to contractual issues in some places.

Maybe matters have been resolved and they are in a position to go there for a few shows after all - but as a separate and short tour after a few weeks off following the Europe leg.
