& Lenny on lead vocals

THE RECORDING:
AKG Bluelines - cardioid caps. Directly from the master 16-bit .wav files. No mods to the master files.

The 1st set runs 85 minutes with a long medley at the end. This poses a dilemma in terms of how to burn the show on two discs as there is no way to get the complete show without burning it out of order or breaking up the medley. Completists will need three discs if my math is correct. For those wishing to avoid a (relatively) short 3rd disc simply eliminate a couple of the sections of between-song banter of your choice to fit the show on two (not recommended).

SYNOPSIS:
* Great show...played all the songs from the album...opened AND closed with Tears for Fears cover.
* Wicked psychedelic version of "Are You Experienced? -> Patti rap -> White Rabbit" to close the first set.
* Special guests for the evening were Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes and Louis Resto, Eminem's producer.
* Jackson played guitar/bass for the whole show.
* Additional covers: Lou Reed's "Perfect Day", The Seeds' "Pushin' Too Hard", REM's "Everybody Hurts"
* Nice poem for her niece, Tara, apparently reflecting on last Monday's tragedy at Va Tech

THE BAND:
* Patti Smith - vocals, guitar & clarinet
* Lenny Kaye - guitars
* Jay Dee Daugherty - drums & acordian
* Tony Shanahan - bass & keyboards
* Jackson Smith - guitars & bass
* Louis Resto - keyboards & acordian
* Rich Robinson - mountain dulcimer & guitar

Yep. Guess she's playing some of 'em live too. I'd love to hear her do "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed...always loved that one.

Dan Speaking of Dime, I had broadband access 2 weekends in a row and put up a lot of great stuff. There is also a Beasts Of Bourbon show from SXSW.

I recommend all these because they are great, there are still seeders:

I just picked up the album and from what i've heard, it's great!

Gimme Shelter is one of the highlights of the album.

F505 Although a huge Patti Smith fan I think the album is very disappointing. Almost all covers are faithful imitations of the originals. Not much passion.
Hopefully she wil not play too many of these 12 songs in Paradiso next month!

She played much longer than is usually acceptable at an instore which kinda sucked. Are You Experienced was cool but Smells Like Teen Spirit was painful, it was like the Tori Amos version only much worse and way too long. Someone next to me yelled for Gimme Shelter once.
