Nellcote I had a flashback today....
I recall the period when IORR was released, hearing the
song on WBCN in Bahston for the 1st time.
I was riding in a convertible Triumph, wowing at the whole feel of it all.
Today's weather here in the Aruba of the North is strangely
similar to that day, some 31 yrs ago.
I wonder when the magic moment will occur....

I love hearing about fond-Stone-memories, so to help me complete the visual for that sunny day...

Were you in a TR 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 or 8?

I remember hearing IORR on the radio for the first time, too. You could tell it was the Stones immediately, and judging from this first taste, I really thought the new album was going to kick some major ass.

It was at night and I was in an olive green Plymouth Duster. Not too cool. It wasn't mine - I don't think I had my driver's license yet.

When Some Girls came out I was tooling around in a '63 Austin Healy Sprite. MUCH cooler.

By the time Tattoo You came out, I had a red TR-7. THAT was sweet. Except for those damned headlights - I remember pulling into a party once, just thinking "oh boy wait'll everyone gets a load of my ride", and when I turned the headlights off they retracted, then popped back up, then retracted, then popped back up...and wouldn't stop, even when I turned the car off. I started it up again and left.

A year or two later I sold it to a guy who had been begging me to sell it to him. Found out that months later it short circuited in the middle of the night and burned to the ground.

I guess electrical problems are, or were, common in English sports cars. I gave up on sportscars after the 80s. They seemed like a vanity I could live without.

Nellcote ..............................

Your POST gives Joey a flashback .

I too recall the period when IORR was released -- November , 1974 -- Quang Tri Province , DaNang , South Vietnam -- I was waiting my ' turn ' in one of the " Russian Roulette Parlors " just north of Hue . It was an unusually cool morning that particular fall day ( 105 Degrees Farenheit , 98 % Humidity , 95 Dew Point , wind gusting up something fierce off the South China Sea producing a 125 Degree Wind Chill ) and whilst watching one of me colleagues ' frig up ' and blow his brains out all over the friggin floor , what do I hear wafting out from a radio in the ' kitchen ' area ?!?! ... Why the sweet & gentle opening strains of " Time Waits For No One " .

****** JOEY SIGHS WHILST LOOKING UP TOWARDS THE CEILING AND RUBBING HIS CHIN *********

I immediately handed my gun to a good friend of mine , Nicky , who proceeded to take my place at the ' table ' , and I ran as fast as I could into the ' kitchen ' to hear as much of the track as possible without interrupting any of the ' transactions ' that were currently occurring at the various desks strategically propped up against the back wall .

..........Wait ! .. Here comes me boss

Developing .......................................

Jacky !!!!

Riffhard Well if'n you guys are gonna shit on Bush you might as well wipe your feet on the flag while you're at it.

How dare people accuse liberals of being un-American! The nerve!

Oh,and by the way,the above picture was taken at USC at Berkeley during an exhibit of liberal cartoon artists. Yeah, there's nothing anti-American there, huh? LOL! Ya don't like it? Move to fucking Canada!

Fucking Bezerkely, the last place you'd expect to find anyone with any discernible amount of class or taste. And while the girl on the left is fetching (looks a lot like my current "interest") the fat-ass on the right should be out running some god-damn laps around a track. In stead, this slouched sloth is trouncing the American flag with his overweight, lard-ridden gut. Just think: we'll all be paying his obesity-induced medical bills someday, in this country he so despises.
