its about time!!! The Crowes were born to cover "Tumbling Dice"!!!
its the perfect song for them to cover - especially with the soul sisters singing backup. Rich Robinson is the new Keef!! |

They sure do excellent job with those Stones covers!
A frightening thought:
What do you think it would sound like if The Crowes did a show (or tour) with Mick like they did with Jimmy Page? |

with only about 10 official shows under their belt this tour, the Crowes have busted out a nice little collection of Stones covers so far:
Torn & Frayed, Happy, You Gotta Move, & Tumbling Dice.
as always, I'm hoping for more!

they would sound like what the Stones SHOULD sound like!! It would sound like the '73 tour!
I think if Mick ever called up his friend Rich Robinson and asked him to do it, I think a lot of Stones fans would be shocked at not only how good they would sound - but also just how much more Stonesy sounding the guitars are then Keef & Ronnie are these days.
being the Stones afficianado's that they are - the Crowes would one up the Stones the same way they did to Zep on the Page tour.
I prefer to listen to the Crowes & Page shows over most of my Zep shows.
I think the same thing would happen with a Jagger & Crowes tour. |

Interestingly, Ive also made that same conjecture Saint. I think that the Black Crowes live, sound more like the Rolling Stones do!! Teh Stones should take a lesson from the Crowes in how to sound like themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes, its so embarrassing (for me) to hear them fuck up a version of a song. I just cringe. I get so upset!! haha Yet............... there are other times, that when and if the Stones do hit it, and make it on a good night, they are so amazing, that, the Black Crowes can't even "touch" them, the STones are on this fucking higher level of telepathy.
God I love the Crowes and Stones. I reckon they'll tour this fall together. *fingers crossed*
cheers

Hell yeah! Grady opened the Houston show for the Crowes last weekend.
I know Gordie Johnson. Gordie is good friends with the Robinson bros. He toured with Rich Robinson last year - he played bass in Rich's band. He's sat in with the Crowes a bunch of times too. Great guy. Amazingly talented musician - singer, guitarist, bassist, songwriter. Gordie's the man! |

Yes, he is!
One of my favourite musicians/guitarists. I was a Big Sugar junky back in the day. Got to know Warren "Wiggy", their tour manager well. Became a guest list regular, so-to-speak.
Grady is starting a (long over-due) Canadian tour in June.
This pic, of he and I, was taken at the last BS show I saw - here in my home town. The show was actually at the University campus where I work...
