Thats not quite what happened. When ATV Music (who owned the publishing rights to Northern Songs after Lennon and McCartney both sold them their stock in the early 70s) went up for sale in the mid 80's, McCartney had tried to get Yoko to bid WITH him on the deal, but she refused. Jackson subsequently outbid McCartney - after being encouraged to do so by Yoko.
