Seeing John Gibson on Fox News aka, The White Poeples News Channel, report this story was not only great, but I just couldn't stop thinking about this:
This is the guy who has inspired God knows how many American criminals, those tattooed, toothless types you see lurking around places you want to just keep driving through. They all sit around saying, "Well, hell, if it's ok by Mick, I guess it's ok by me. I'll just go beat somebody's head in with a pool cue." |

The teeth you libs want there to be in this story simply are not there - no quotes from Mick, no nothing. The media (including Fox) is trying to make it into something it's not - some sort of political statement or protest by Mick and the Stones.
As one of the few remaining Bush supporters (I won't say the same for the spineless Republicans of the Senate), it doesn't bother me in the least that the Pres was told the room was already booked - if the Stones got there first, why should they have to take their entire entorage, which is probably bigger than the Bush's, elsewhere.
Also, for all who think this is Classic Stones Rebellion - Get Real. The Stones of the '60s and '70s would NEVER have promoted a story about fighting with the President of the United States - a world leader and part of the "establishment" - for a posh, $6500/night hotel suite. Mick would have been embarrassed that his expensive, bougousie tastes were public.
Welcome to the board Bush geek! And to think your very "first" post on this most glorious of Rolling Stones boards was that piffling one. Big Ole Momma didden raise no damn niggies now did she, boy?
Judas pissing Christ, you stupid bitches can't for the life of you figure out when you are getting mooged. Nobody except you, Telecaster, and maybe Matt Drudge gives a flying fucking rat's ass whether George Walker Bush III tried to engage Mick Jagger in arbitration for the same accomodations. Do you get that? Do you even fucking get that?
But its a fact now! And this one goes into the Stones legends of yore. Mick Jagger, yes THAT Mick Jagger, just bitchslapped a retard.
And Telecaster will NEVER (read NEVER - En - Ee - Vee - Ee - Are) post a link supporting George Walker Bush III's "decision" to have the United Arab Emirates control U.S. sea ports. |

Yeah, I bet that comes as a real shocker to everyone reading the article... |

sirmoonie,
Thanks for the welcome. Mom's doing well, thanks for asking.
Angie, I think you missed my point - of course everyone today knows Mick's lavish tendencies. I was simply pointing out that this is not an instance of "Stones Rebellion" in the classic sense of them living up to their legacy. Standing up for the right to stay in a hotel room that costs 6 times the income of the average person in China is not quite the same spirit of rebellion memorialized in Satisfaction, Sympathy, Gimme Shelter. For that matter, it's not even in the league of Blinded by Rainbows, Highwire, or Neocon.
Mick realizes this - I think that's why there is not a direct quote from him in this article and why you probably won't see one from him in the future on this issue. My bets are that if it's brought up in a direct question, he'll downplay it. But, maybe he'll surprise me. If I'm wrong, I'll buy drinks for everyone on the next tour (only counts if Charlie's there, though).
Peace Through Victory Through Peace. |

Sirmoonie, Couldn't resist pointing out the "latest development" after your vitriol. Anyone looking at the story objectively could see that there were no teeth in it whatsover. The story had no quotes, no sources, no anything except a mention of George W Bush - and there you go again wallowing in your liberal fantasies of the destruction of all things American. Well, sirmoonie, please enjoy the crow. It's great doused in ketchup, with a Bud Light, particularly when you're wearing a Hawaiian shirt while driving a pickup truck. "Momma raised me to realize life don't get much better."
Cut and Pasted from Shidoobee and the Same reported by Bill O'Reilly on Foxnews:
NEW YORK, April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The story circulating about Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones refusing to give up their reservations at the Imperial Hotel in Vienna for President Bush this June is completely untrue.
No one associated with Mick Jagger, other members of the Rolling Stones, the tour director, or those responsible for travel arrangements for the tour were ever contacted by the Imperial Hotel, President Bush or anyone on his behalf requesting them to change their reservation.

Sasquatch. It turns out the useless retard was George Walker Bush III. I saw this hurricane of stupidity coming over six years ago when I was watching the Republican party decide which candidate. I saw what direction they were going in and said to myself, "Damn, this is fucked up. I need another beer."
The whole George Walker Bush III model - some dumb ass cheerleader being urged by the two most cynical creeps of all time - practically admitted cynical creeps - Dick Cheney and Karl Rove even make Bill Clinton look like an idealist. Where was this charade going but nowhere? Wouldn't somebody be minding the candy store?
It finally is time to call this thing a cluster-fuck, which is what the Republicans in Congress are starting to actually do. And that is all that Mick Jagger was doing when he called George Walker Bush III and said "Suck my dick. Go find your dumb ass self another fucking hotel room." That is what he was doing. Its that simple, Bush geeks. Its that simple. |

What's really amazing / funny / pathetic / sad is that millions of people - apparently yourself included - have actually been convinced that it's WASHINGTON'S (of all places) responsibility to protect individual cities like New Orleans from their own debacles.
To this day, I'm waiting for mainstream media examination of the roles utterly depraved, corrupt, pathetic mayor of New Orleans and governor of Louisiana in their own debacle.
It's just laughable and amazing to watch tens of millions of poeple to pray to the television and to the feds to solve their own problems. |

If they don't want to be beholden to the people, stop collecting taxes and running for office. They're supposed to be working for us, remember. They don't work for our interests, and that's why shit happens like in NOLA, and everyone points the finger, to cover their own private interests.
Look how large the Federal Govt. is now, thanks to Bush and Neo Con rule, and you're saying they shouldn't be responsible, well you're correct, they aren't responsible. They're imcompitent and impotent idiots. Are you glad you got it your way, you should be, you paid for it!

I must admit that, as a Bush voter that expected LESS governnment spending, I'm totally depressed that instead we've gotten a devalued dollar, increased debt, and MUCH larger government, not to mention the largest new government entitlement program since the 60s, namely the "free pills for everyone" bill.
I freely admit that this sucks, and isn't what I expected.
However, when the leftists now claim that rightwingers are slashing government programs, ignoring those in need, etc. (i.e. their usual rhetoric), they are a joke. Bush, in my mind, is a run of the mill big government progressive. He might as well switch parties and become a Democrat.
You have a point in that way, pdog. I thought I'd be getting something completely different when I pulled the lever for GW. |

We think more alike than I expected! The frightening thing for me is, it seems too many world leaders are too much into religion, and all these religions idealogies claim the end of the world is coming. So ,why should I think these people will do anything to preserve life?
Islam and Christianity... Sickening, perversion of something people once used to deal with the fact we're really evolved from monkeys and they can't accept!!! |

First off, Sirmoonie - apologies for being so combative in my last post. Was drunk and belligerent and saw that report about the whole hotel incident not really happening (at least according to the Stones press) and thought I'd rub it in. Somehow, though, I don't think you're losing any sleep over it.
Now, on to politics, I too am concerned about the US government spending and GWB has most certainly been a cheerleader for big government programs. That being said, I believe that despite his problems in the domestic realm (Katrina is fair game here, though Blanco, Nagin AND the people who refused to leave the city get their fair share of blame as well), his overall philosophy of promoting global free markets is a positive one and one that will eventually lead to a more peaceful world.
If it weren't for closely tied markets, the French and the British could still be in a state of constant war over their "ancient hatred" for eachother as much as the Israelis and the rest of the Middle Eastern Arabs are today. In this light, the much-derided unilateralist Bush is really quite a pro-globalizationist. He just doesn't believe in the quasi-communist/socialist globalism that Kofi Annan does and doesn't view international politics as a zero sum game.
Bush understands on a very basic level that the advancement of China, The Middle East, Africa, and India into the world economy does not necessarily equal the loss of any American economic power, except maybe in relative terms which neither he nor anyone else cares about anyway. Everyone, America included, will be better off and more secure when free markets exist throughout the world - Bush's commitment to these principles are the reason why he retains my support. The Republicans in Congress may drift whatever way the wind blows (see UAE Ports Deal, Immigration), but Bush, both when its popular and when its unpopular, sticks to these core beliefs that will lead to the unification of the world one day down the road. |

As long as the Feds proffer something like FEMA, such expectations are not only reasonable, but are encouraged. I agree, looking to Washington is stupid, especially with this gang of phalangists running the show, but Washington encouraged this.
FEMA is history now....
