From his work as a featured soloist with the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra and many other jazz artists, to his work in the pop world, as saxophonist with groups like the Rolling Stones and many more, Tim Ries is one of the most versatile players in jazz today. His new cd The Rolling Stones Project (Concord - 2005) garnered much critical and popular acclaim for his inventive jazz versions of Rolling Stones classics, like Satisfaction and Honky Tonk Women. The cd features an impressive cast of musicians from the jazz world and beyond, people like Bill Charlap, Bill Frisell, Larry Goldings, John Patitucci, and Brian Blade; singers Norah Jones and Luciana Souza; and rock stars Cheryl Crow, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts.
