Dan Tough one since the 1990's were the best ever decade for music.

My #1 all time favorite CD is
FAITH NO MORE "ANGEL DUST"

and 9 more in no particular order:

BREEDERS "LAST SPLASH"
MR. BUNGLE "MR BUNGLE"
LUSH "SPLIT"
THERAPY? "NURSE"
GERALDINE FIBBERS "BUTCH"
DAVID BOWIE "OUTSIDE"
NICK CAVE "LET LOVE IN"
RAMMSTEIN "SENSUCHT"
SUPERGRASS "I SHOULD COCO"

and I don't think the 2 Stones releases were even the best albums of the week they came out.

25th April 2006 12:59 PM
justforyou Yeah, Stones releases... since I started collecting the unreleased outtakes and live concerts off the internet my official Stones stuff just collects dust!
25th April 2006 01:11 PM
nanatod I don't count Nevermind, because I never owned it. Here is, chronologically, the ten albums I listened to the most from the 1990's:

Joe Ely, Live at Liberty Lunch, 1990
Black Crowes, Shake Your Moneymaker, 1990
Soul Asylum, Grave Dancers Union, 1992
Arrested Development, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of..., 1993
The Band, Jericho, 1993 (best versions of "Atlantic City" and "Blind Willie McTell")
Sheryl Crow, Tuesday Night Music Club, 1993
Dinosaur Jr., Without a Sound, 1994
Everclear, Sparkle and Fade, 1995 (just for "Santa Monica")
Lucinda Williams, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, 1998
The Continental Drifters, Vermillion, 1999 (just for "Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway" and "The Rain Song," but throw in Vickie's "Mixed Messages" from their previous album)

The best concert movies of the 1990's are "Woodstock 1994" and "The Buena Vista Social Club."

One of the best moments is when, after a succession of "downer" acts on Friday night, the Violent Femmes come on stage and unleash what I remember to be their song "Kiss off."

1991-1995 at least it was all about living for the moment rather than going through Dad's records and wishing I was older. Can't say I enjoy any so called classic rock as much as I enjoyed all the bands in that era while they were actually happening.

Thought Steel Wheels was a one shot deal and didn't really even consider the Stones a real band at the time (still don't actually).

Me and Keith prefer the term "virtual corporation," though a new album was a step in the right direction. Bands do that sometimes ya know.
25th April 2006 03:12 PM
gimmekeef The Stones evolved from a gang to a band to a corporate machine. The magic is still there some nights but the autopilot switch is never too far away....
