23rd April 2006 02:33 PM
Gazza The annual "Sunday Times Rich List" has been published today and shows that between the four of them, the Stones have a collective worth of £540 million.

For those to lazy to look it up, that equates to US $963 million, Canadian $1,095 million, Australian $1,295 million and 780 million Euro

Mick Jagger is listed as the joint 290th richest man in the UK with a value of £205 million (up from £180 million last year). The valuation is based on "royalty earnings, his property and investment portfolio, song rights and toruing income, past and future"

Keith Richards is joint 327th at £180 million, Charlie Watts is joint 680th with a worth of £85 million and Ronnie Wood joint 817th at £70 million

The Stones earned £87.6 million in 2005 (despite the fact that they didnt go on tour until August or release their new record until september 5th). This makes them the UK's biggest earning musical artist last year - ahead of mcCartney (£48.5 million), Elton (£44.4 million), Rod Stewart (£33.6 million) and Coldplay (£29.7 million)

U2, however (who, unlike the Stones, were active for pretty much all of 2005) earned £146.7 million.

Of the music millionaires, Mick is in joint 8th with Elton John, Keith is 12th, Charlie 26th and Ronnie joint 34th with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page.

The top 12 are ;

1. Clive Calder (former owner of Zomba Records) - £1.3 billion
2. Sir Paul McCartney - £825 million
3. Lord Lloyd Webber - £700 million
4. Sir Cameron Mackintosh (theatre owner & impresario) - £400 million
5. Simon Fuller (Manager & impresario, "Pop Idol", etc)- £300 million
6. Madonna & Guy Ritchie - £248 million
7. Robert Stigwood - £212 million
8= Sir Mick Jagger - £205 million
8= Sir Elton John - £205 million
10= Sir Tom Jones - £185 million
10= Sting - £185 million

Others include
Olivia & Dhani Harrison - £140 million (16th=)
Eric Clapton - £135 million (17th =)
Ringo Starr - £125 million (19th)
David Bowie - £120 million (20th =)
Roger Waters & David Gilmour - both £80 million (27th =)

With a collective worth of £469 million, U2 are the 13th wealthiest in Ireland. Their value is split five ways between the four band members and manager Paul McGuinness.

Riffhard Damn I can't believe that Tom Jones is worth that much. I mean what has he done for the last twenty five years other than singing The Tennesee Waltz on the Chiefton's Long Black Veil?

Looks like Zomba has been Britney Spears' label since her beginnings as a singing virgin. I guess that would be enough to make Clive Calder rich.

The list is for people who are resident in the UK (or who have homes there. eg Keith).

The Zomba guy is actually South African, and the two richest people in Britain are an Indian steel magnate and Russian oligarch and football club owner Roman Abramovich.

anyway, isnt Jacko supposedly nearly bankrupt?

Reptile I didn't know Sir Tom Jones had that much money. I mean, he had some hits, but you'd expect a person like Eric Clapton in there.

They must have got advance payment for the Bigger Bang tour. (Bigger Bang tour - sounds very un-stones like, more like a porn series!)
