I dunno what the story is behind the song, but I know Andrew is still alive.
He was a speakers at the south by southwest (SXSW)music & film festival in austin, tx this year.
I read a really good article on this. I might have read that article here, can't recall offhand, but he talked alot about his days with the Stones. |

I fucking hope not as I'll probably be meeting him in about two weeks!!
If there's a bit of a foul smell off him, I'll know for sure!

Great!
Maybe you can ask him about obscure tracks like "Something Brigitte Bardot", "Panama Powder Room", etc...and if he's got the tapes! |

ok but does anyone know why they were singing this song?
surely there must be some reason behind it if you listen to the words
Did the stones feel he ripped them off or didnt do enough for them? |

They were just messing about drunkenly in the studio weren't they? As far as I know there isn't any hidden meaning or malice attached to it. |

That's right.
I can't recall where I've read it, but during the sessions in 1964 that led up to their first release, Phil Spector and Gene Pitney were often around. The tune is essentially the same as the Can I Get a Witness and Now I Got a Witness. My recollection is that they were all messed up in the studio and just kinda threw the lyrics in about Andrew and Gene -- don't recall if Phil is mention in the song or not -- but I think that was all there was to it. |

It's a pretty goofy song. Like scratch and nanky I'm sure it was nothing more than fucking around in the studio after a spell of hard work.
Anyway, doesn't Andrew himself sing some verses on that one? Or was it Gene Pitney? |

OK, I've got the answer to my own question!
It was Gene Pitney indeed. And here's a link to the lyrics, on Keno's website:

Mick Jagger, Phil Spector, Gene Pitney, Grahm Nash & Allan Clarke all sing on this one, according to Keno! |
