Topic: Shine A Light released in 1970? Return to archive
20th April 2007 06:59 AM
Ronnie Richards From Wiki:
"Shine a Light" – 4:14
Features Miller on drums and Billy Preston on organ. An early version was recorded in Spring 1970, and released in 1970, by Leon Russell as "Get a Line on You," together with Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman, Mick Taylor and Ringo Starr.

Anybody heard this recording? Any good? Different from the Stones' version?

The Exile entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_On_Main_St
also claims that Rocks Off and Loving Cup were recorded in LA in 72, while only "Rip this Joint", "Shake Your Hips", "Casino Boogie", "Happy", "I Just Wanna See His Face", "Turd on the Run", and "Ventilator Blues" was recorded at Nellcote.

Well probably many of you already knew this, but this was news to me..

corgi37 I heard that no electric guitars AT ALL were recorded at Nellcote. Kind ruins the myth, dont it?

Hmm I've heard the early version of Shine A Light called "Get A Line On You" but I don't think that's what you're talking about.

JOHNNYSTONED shine a light was recorded at a leon russell session. an early version of the song does exist and was legitimately
avaliable on a gold leon russell disc released a few years ago. it has also been avaliable on many boots for years. it is called GET A LINE ON YOU.

Do you mean no guitar tracks that made it onto the record were from Nellcote? I mean, I'm sure they *recorded* guitar there...
