Keith, Emmy, Norah Toast Willie
All-star Nelson tribute set for April 14th in Nashville

Nearly three decades after Willie Nelson ditched Nashville (and his torched home) for Austin, Texas, Music City will welcome back its most decidedly successful failure. Keith Richards, Norah Jones, the Dixie Chicks and Emmylou Harris have also joined the lineup for the an April 14th tribute to the Red Headed Stranger, which will be taped for an A&E special to air in late May or early June.
Ryan Adams, Hank Williams III, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Matchbox Twenty, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, LeAnn Womack, Aaron Neville, Brian McKnight, and Vince Gill are among the previously announced performers who will take the stage at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. Much like Nelson's own marathon concerts, the focus of the concert won't necessarily be songs Nelson penned, but rather a celebration of American song in his honor.

"My mom and her sister always had his stuff laying around," Williams says of Nelson. "And the first time I was around Willie, it was me and the governor and Willie Nelson and my dad in a picture. He's just one of a kind. Willie sings one note, and you know it's him. The way he writes and sings is undeniable."

Initial plans called for Williams, Richards, Adams and Nelson to reprise the Highwaymen, the Eighties supergroup that featured Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, but the evening's program is still being decided.
