Joey
Hello My Stones Brothers and Sisters .............

Pete has finished writing the new WHO ALBUM and Roger & Company are ' wrapping it up ' in the studio .

Glimmers ........................

" I have suggested to Roger, who has some time available prior to a filming commitment, that he work with my brother Simon to complete the tracks I started at home, and they are going to begin shortly. They will have to work without me. I'm writing my book, so I will have very limited time to do more studio work, but I've done a lot already, there is plenty there for a good album. A glimmer of music? "

FPM C10 Does it bother anyone else that Townshend is faxing his parts in?

Is this how you make records? Remember the old days when everyone went to the studio and played TOGETHER?

When you hear this sound a-comin',
Hear the drummers drumming,
I want you to join together with the band,
We don't move in any particular direction,
And we don't make no collections,
I want you to join together with the band.

Do you really think I care,
What you read or what you wear,
I want you to join together with the band,
There's a million ways to laugh,
And every one's a path,
Come on and join together with the band.

Everybody join together, I want you to join together,
Come on and join together with the band,
We need you to join together, come on and join together,
Come on and join together with the band.

You don't have to play,
You can follow or lead the way,
I want you to join together with the band,
We don't know where we're going,
But the season's right for knowing,
I want you to join together with the band.

It's the singer not the song,
That makes the music move along,
I want you to join together with the band,
This is the biggest band you'll find,
It's as deep as it is wide,
Come on and join together with the band,
Hey hey hey hey hey hey, well everybody come on.

Come on and join, join together with the band,
We need you to join together, everybody come on,
Hey hey hey, join together with the band.

*********BLANK FRIGGIN' STARE**********

wh-wh-what? Oh, of course!

I liken Pete to my idiot brother-in-law who fancies himself an auto mechanic...He once claimed to have diagnosed a problem I was having with an old BMW with which I refused to part...he tore apart the engine all along swearing he could fix it and that he knew what the problem was...all the while telling me what was wrong with it...that was six years ago...the parts still take up half my garage, the car is not fixed, and my brother-in-law went to Germany and has not returned...

Joey,

Alright first, with all well due respect to Mr. Pete townsend for his excellent guitar play and Roger for his spectacular vocals.

However: Is there really a point to this? Pete doesn't seem
that interested. It kinda seems like more of a
half arse way of making a record. How the hecks can
Pete expect to solidify an album when he isn't going
to be with the rest of the band in the studio
working on it?

I dunno Joey, I Fu*#ing LOVE The Who of old.
but I haven't seen that since at the very latest
1982 (although their 89 show truly rocked).

Pete cares more about writing a book than actually
making a quality recording with the remains of
The Who.

Just my opinion.

Gazza doesnt sound like a million miles away from the way a certain other band are 'making' their record, if you ask me.

Yes , Peter Denis Blandford Townshend is currently the greatest and most exciting lead guitar player on the stage today ( witness his superb ' axe work ' last summer on the WHO , Yokohama ' 04 DVD ) . Awesome and very ENTERTAINING !!!!! *** You should have seen the Jaws drop on all those Japanese kids after Pete's solo on 5:15 ***

Roger is getting up there in years but still looks/acts half his age ( see : Mick Jagger , MACCA , Keef [ well , somewhat half his age ] ) .

BEST WHO YET !!!!!!!!

BEST STONES YET !!!!!

BEST MACCA YET !!!!!!

BEST U2 YET !!!!!!!!

....see them ALL and thank your young Joeykins later .

April 19th, 2005 09:34 AM
glencar Isn't Roger's "prior film commitment" that "WB" sitcom? Too funny for words.

HellsRollingThunder Maybe none of you remember this but when I saw the phrase
"Chairman of the Board" the first person I knew who was referred
to in that manner was Frank Sinatra. But that was many years ago
and I have not heard anyone referred to since until this post.
Very good.

Yeah, well it seems to me that Pete is more concerned about "his" new book than he is about "their" new record. Perhaps the title of this thread should have read-"Message from the Chairman of the Bored"

You are right Hannalee -- Thanks for checking .

Please don't read too much into this as Pete Townshend as already done all the ' Heavy Lifting ' by writing everything and adding his guitar parts .
