Yesterday, while searching the web I saw that the great Brazilian band, Os Mutantes, who last played live in 1973, has apparently arisen from the dead, and will be touring this year. They are scheduled to play the Intonation Music Festival in Chicago which is June 24-25th. Pollstar also indicates that Os Mutantes is playing some other dates around the country.
My question to the people who post on this board who live in South America is, is this news earth-shattering?
At the Chicago MCA's tropicalia exhibit, Os Mutantes was bandied about as being important, but how important are they? Is there an analogy you can think of?
Also, further web research indicates that Blue Cheer, one of the progenitors of heavy music will play in Chicago at Intonation's competition, the Pitchfork Music Festival, which is July 29-30th.
