From the NY Post.
April 14, 2005 -- BILLY Idol owes his biggest hit, "Rebel Yell," to the Rolling Stones. The '80s rocker wrote the song after attending a birthday party for Mick Jagger at which Jagger was given a bottle of Rebel Yell whiskey. The Stones were fascinated by the name, and Idol jotted down their one-liners and jokes about the booze and turned it into a song. If you're still curious, cartoonist M. Wartella drew an illustrated explanation of the song's origin for the May issue of Spin. |
