Zeeta Following much drunken discussion here is my five piece=

Can be dead / alive, whatever, musicians at their peak:

Lead guitar - Jimi Hendrix
Rythym guitar - Keith Richards
Bass - John Entwistle
Drums - John Bonham
Lead singer - (fucking difficult!) Iggy Pop (Jagger and Jim Morrison very close behind though)

Imagine the "weaving" between Keef and Jimi!

Who does makes your line up??
04-15-03 06:28 AM
dealer squealing Singer: Mick Jagger
Guitar: Keith Richards
Guitar: Ron Wood
Drums: Charlie Watts
Bass: Bill Wyman
Percussions: Ollie Brown
Piano: Ian Stewart
Backing vocals: Keit Richards, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan
04-15-03 07:18 AM
Zeeta Yes very good but not very innovative and a bit predictable,
maybe I set myself up - but you can't JUST listen to the Stones ALL the time?!
Come on...any takers?

PS You didn't even put the sixth Stone on piano - what is a line up without him?!
lol
04-15-03 07:32 AM
dealer squealing I thought the sixth stone was there? Or do you mean Chuck
Ok it was not very avant garde ill try another one.
Singer and Bass: Keith Richards
Piano: Nick Cave
Guitar and backing cocals: Tom Waits
Acoustic guitar: Bob Dylan
Backing Vocals: Bjrk
Drums: Jim Keltner
Acoustic guitar: Robert Johnson
04-15-03 07:35 AM
Zeeta Oh yes! That is a good one,
Robert Johnson on guitar!
Bjork backing vocals! - Outrageous!!!
keith on Bass - good choice,

Yes of course I mean Chuck - who is the "Stu" fellow??!
04-15-03 08:11 AM
Mother baby Huh..interesting thought.

Try This one

Vocals/frontwoman: Tina Turner
Bass............. Felix Papparladi
Lead Guit........ Johnny Winter
Ryth Guit........ Malcolm Young
Drums............ Charlie Watts
Piano............ Jerry Lee Lewis
04-15-03 08:20 AM
Zeeta Johnny Winter or Hendrix?!

Winter cannot be compared to Jimi in any possible way,

Malcolm Young - I like though better than Keith though?? Dunno
Tina Turner - agreed
Jerry Lee Lewis - given

I didn't have a pianist - maybe Elton?!!!

I wouldn't begin to know how to compare those two.
But if you can name any white guy who can play blues and blues based rock the way Winter can, then I'm all ears. Winter has two key elements, passion for the blues and mastery of his instrument. There's a little funny quote about Johnny coming into the studio. "He came with a guitar, then he became the guitar"
04-15-03 09:59 AM
Zeeta Clapton
04-15-03 10:11 AM
Mother baby Yes. I'd almost give you a bullseye on the one. I like Clapton allright but theres something about his style that I can't really put my finger on. It's almost like he's too good....sometimes when I hear him I think I could be listening to a machine. a little "stiff" perhaps. Like I said I can't really put my finger on it. But yeah he's got the passion and the mastery allright
04-15-03 10:19 AM
voodoopug Vocals: Robert Plant
Rythmn: Keef
Lead: Clapton
Bass: Les Claypool
Drums: Moon
Piano: Johnny Johnson
Sax: Mr. Keys
Backing Vocals: Sheryl Crow, Tina, Marvin Gaye
04-15-03 10:59 AM
Zeeta Like the backing vocalists voodoopug!

Imagine the after show parties - oh yes, wonder who would have Tina and who would have Sheryl???
04-15-03 11:09 AM
dealer squealing hehe and who would have Marvin??
04-15-03 12:09 PM
Mother baby How about this DREAM LINEUP?

Vocals: Macca
Guitar: Macca
Bass: Macca
Drums:Macca
Piano: Macca
All Violins by Macca

(If it were possible I bet he'd have himself cloned....not too hard to imagine 8-10 Macca clones walking around))

jb What do you think of the old videos of the Stones on Don Kirshner's rock concert. I was watching a VCR sent to me that had IORR, Til the next time we say goodbye, and Ain't to proud to beg. I remember seeing these videos back then , but don't really remember the impact these videos had at the time.

Joey, as a fellow Who fan, I would broadly agree apart from Rhythm guitar, Keith has gotta be there!

I think for this that you should definately shave your sac!!!!!!!!!!

It's been done, Mother baby. Twice. First time he did it he released McCartney, which was a meandering little sucker with one of the best numbers he ever did tucked away on it. A few other cool numbers like "Oo You" and "Every Night", but "Maybe I'm Amazed" takes the cake.

The second time he released McCartney II, which is a blight upon the face of humanity. All copies of this record should be used as hair basins for Joey's scrotal shavings.

I'd go see that concert, the all-Macca lineup. They'd kill each other onstage to get a bigger share of the royalties!

J.J.Flash Let's try this one:

Drums - Keith Moon (forget about Bonham)
Bass - Jack Bruce (this guy with Clapton was a genious)
Rhythm Guitar - Keith Richards (but he must be lead in some songs)
Lead Guitar - Jimi Hendrix (or Clapton)
Vocal - The one and only Bon Scott

Mick Jagger will be always the best for me, but this is a fantasy line-up, dreams line-up......

Well..gotta have a harmonica too.
Brian or Mick are both pretty good. But to amend the fantasy line up I'd have to go with good ole' Charlie Musselwhite. Maybe he's not the very "best" but he does project a really cool image. (James Cotton too maybe?)

Geezer Butler- bass(from Black Sabbath)
Eddie Van Halen- drums(from Van Halen)
Ray Manzerk- Keyboards(from The Doors)

04-15-03 06:05 PM
T&A I am a big Charlie Musselwhite fan, but Butterfield and Little Walter were the best of the genre....
04-15-03 06:28 PM
Child of the Moon I tried making one of these a long time ago. It's been through many radical changes, but here's the list as it stands...

LEAD VOCALS: Roger Daltrey, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, Otis Redding
HARMONY VOCALS: David Crosby, Steve Stills, Graham Nash, Neil Young, Richie Furay, David Gilmour, The Temptations (really, any incarnation is fine)
GUITARS: Rhythm: Pete Townshend, Keith Richards, Chuck Berry
Lead: Mick Taylor, David Gilmour, Neil Young
BASS: John Entwistle, Paul McCartney [Session bassist when Johns out]
VARIOUS STRINGED INSTRUMENTS: Brian Jones [Not to mention any other instruments needed], Jimmy Page
RONNIE WOOD: Ronnie Wood [basically, whatever the hell I want him to do]
DRUMS: Keith Moon, Charlie Watts [Session drummer when Moonies out]
KEYBOARDS: Nicky Hopkins, Al Kooper, Billy Preston, Ian Stewart, Rick Wright
HARMONICA/BLUES HARP: Bob Dylan, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson
HORNS: Miles Davis, Bobby Keys, Jim Price, Hugh Masekela, Charlie Parker, Tower of Power [horn section]
ARRANGEMENTS: John Paul Jones [With extra bass guitar and keyboards in between]
PRODUCERS: George Martin, Jimmy Miller, Jimmy Page
MANAGER: Steve Cronen (me), in joint partnership with Peter Grant
PROMOTER: Bill Graham (I mean, who else?)
SESSION MEN: Guitar: George Harrison, Robbie Robertson, Eric Clapton, Mick Ronson
Drums: John Bonham, Steve Jordan, Nick Mason
Bass: Bill Wyman, Bruce Palmer, Jack Bruce, Flea
Keyboards: Richard Manuel, Elton John, Johnnie Johnson
SONGWRITERS: Jagger/Richards, Neil Young, Lennon/McCartney, John/Taupin, Page/Plant, Willie Dixon, Bob Dylan, Michael Nesmith, Pete Townshend, Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Carole King, Chuck Berry

People would step in and step out as the numbers they performed provided.

What about Magic Dick?
[Edited by Mother baby]
04-15-03 06:38 PM
T&A Never a big fan of Magic Dick - imitator, not very original, IMO.
04-15-03 06:49 PM
Mother baby Yeah I'd be inclined to agree with with you. I saw J. Geils a couple of times. Not bad. My favorite out of that band is Peter Wolfe anyway.
04-15-03 06:52 PM
T&A yep. Peter's new album is very tasty...that duet with Mick is killer - beats anything on GITD, IMO.
04-15-03 06:54 PM
T&A speaking of harp players - one who is in a league of his own is Popper from Blues Traveler. He's not my favorite, but he's got the most ridiculous chops on the instrument...it's mind-boggling what he plays. His problem is he doesn't know nuance and can't really tone it down very well. But, at a chops-level, he's the Hendrix of the Harp (btw - I called him that before that became one of his monikers).
