Angiegirl I prefer Guinness way over Heineken. In fact, I prefer almost anything over Heineken. Not that Guinness and Heineken can be compared, they're different types of beer.
I really love the full taste of Guinness, but I guess it's such a special taste that you just either love or hate it.

Here in Holland, the homeland of Heineken (the brewery is in my hometown actually....) lots of people call Heineken "beer for tourists". Not that it isn't sold or drunk over here, in contrary, it's still a popular one. But there are waaaaaay better tasting beers brewed in Holland, Belgium, Germany etc. But if I'm in a bar where they sell Heineken as the only beer, of course I drink it. There are just other brands I like better.

BTW JB: Amstel is also from Heineken...

Oooooow Yeh F505, dito! I love Grimbergen and Bokbier and Westmalle and Jupiler. And Palm and De Koninck and Leffe. I also like a blond beer like Hoegaarden (the best), especially in this warm and sunny terrace-sitting weather we have going on over here this week!
I just don't drink too much alcoholic stuff, but I sure do like them.

F505 Wow Angiegirl you are a connaisseur!!!
04-14-03 07:42 PM
Angiegirl Not really no. But I grew up in the South, 5 km from the Belgian border...rather large varieties of available Belgian beers were much more common there in bars than here in the middle/northern parts of Holland (you know this naturally...). Everyone there knew about the most important and best tasting ones. Duvel is the only one I never really enjoyed. It's maybe a bit too heavy for my taste, dunno. I don't dislike it though. My brother is in love with Duvel I think .
04-14-03 07:50 PM
F505 Angie you are really to modest! I agree with the Duvel. I drink it once in a while. But it knocks you out!

Riffhard This is a real poll?! Whaaa...? C'mon? Guinness vs Heineken?! This is like comparing the Stones to some second rate, pseudo, never listening to the roots, revisionist,Piccadilly (post '67),great hair no flair, missed the last ferry to cross the Mercy, walking a fine line between "pop shit and real shit",rock and roll lite,...yeah ...but...we can dance!,hack bands playing the bar circiut!

Don't get me wrong. Any beer is better than No beer, but Guinness is heads and shoulders above Heineken. Guinness is good for you! Guinness drinkers are lovers of all good things in life! Heineken may have a pretty green bottle, but it doesn't have a casscading, frothy, pillowlike head. Ofcourse,Angie's got it right. You can't compare a stout with a lager or pilsner, but Guinness is just the best beer in my book. Plus I have many fond memories where Guinness was right there in the thick of it!

I also like Sierra Nevada Wheat Ale unfiltered. Most of the Sierra beers are very good. Pale Ale,Wheat, seasonals, etc. They are all much better than the industrial beers ala,Budweiser,Coors,et al. Sammual Adam's makes some great ones as well. I like all of their seasonal beers.

Having said all of that,I'm drinking a Budweiser right now. It seems that Guinness pub cans are strictly a weekend luxury for me. Four pints for seven bucks is abit much for a Monday night. Although,I did just get back from my Irish club,The Order of The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, where I proceeded to down three pints of the black! So all is well!

Maxlugar I drink my Guiness while wearing a good Republican cloth coat.

Mmmmmm toasty!

Heineken is my favorite though. It reminds me of my little playground in the Dutch Islands, Saba. Oh Lord is it beautiful.

We go diving in the mornings and come back to the room and drink Heineken's on the deck overlooking the vast Caribbean sea. You are tired but a good tired. A tired you get from getting up before the sun rises and plunging 100 feet to the bottom. Sometimes the nitrogen narcosis makes me see schools of Heineken bottles swim by, mocking me.

When we come up, my wife putts on her thong and I drink Heinken's and stare at her glistening tan butt cheeks.

Anyone want to go to Saba with me right now?

MACKY!!!
04-15-03 08:55 AM
J.J.Flash I know all of you are experienced on this theme. But, the problem is that I've never had drunk a Guiness. Of course, I can find it here in great Hyper Mart like Carrefour.......
I'll buy this. Don't worry friends!!
In other hand, I'm sure that all of you would like the best brazilian beer, Brahma. Madafaka know it.

Factory Girl Who has tried Fat Weasel Ale? It has 7.1 % alcohol and it is really strong. An ale that kicks your ass.
04-15-03 09:07 AM
Zeeta I prefer Cafferys, Erdinger Dunkel, Duvel also, Scrumpy Jack cider (England's finest), Southern Comfort, Hoegarden with a slice of lime, Tetley's Bitter, don't claim to know much about wine but - Red if chilling / White to get hammered!
Guinness or Heineken
Guinness is good but I can't drink it all night, each pint is like a meal!
Heineken here is shite - only 4.1% alcohol or less, but I do belive they are enhancing it again to 5% premium.

So guinness it is!

Joey Steelie .........................................

I have something very very important I want to ask you .

Remember , I just don't get up and ask this of everyone .

Steelie , how would you like to go into the " Sac Shaving " business with me ?????????

Please , think about it -- Our own little " Sac Shop " in Chicago , right on Kedzie .

We could call it :

Joey's and Steelie's Ye ole House O'Sac ( YOHOS )

It would be a Goldmine...............You could Shave the Sacs and I would Park the Cars and spend the afternoon's over at Harry Carrey's Place .

YES !!!!!!!

MACKY!!!

Has Irina ever seen the azure blue glistening waters of the Caribean Sea? I am sure she would love it

Oh Yes my Baby Steelie .....................I am seriously considering it !

I WOULD shave the Sacs , but I do not trust you alone inside Harry Carrey's place , what with that extensive Wine List of theirs ................................and with the HOB right next door .................FORGET IT !

steel driving hammer Chicago it is.

Already invested in a Male Plastic Cup, to protect the balls when shearing.

Also invested in a glove like Edward Scissor Hands.

Both have gone up on NYSE since last checked.

Then we'll take our Buisness to...
