This is my point exactly, you're argument is basically telling us how these girls feel. Who the hell are you to do that... Not only are you being offended for someone else, you're taking this to the level of their lives are beuing ruined. WTF! do you not leave your house, people are assholes on the streets, and I hear all kinds of stuff. Are we gonna go around and tell everyone what to do and say? I never siad I need to say the word nigger, I hear it so much, that it shouldn't matter if I ever say it or not. It's like the word cunt. I can call someone it, I can put my face in one, and babies come out of them... Some people don't like the word, is that my problem? People should have the right to be stupid, if they continue to do so, it's their choice. No one has ever died from being called a cunt or a nigger... There's plenty of people who suffer from "isms" and act on them, that never utter a single slur.
So go on about how bad these girls have it... and tell me, who was worse, Imus or the asshole who brought a 15 second soundbite to theri atttention.
I say the person who made them aware of t, otherwise, they would never know. People have said horrible things about me, that i've never been told, and my life goes on... I wish I knew, so I could feel bad and have you go get them fired, especially Imus, he's offended my Jewness... This is retarded and you're retarded... Oops, Now the retards are angry... FUCK! I can't say fuck... God damn it! Oh no, now the religous folks are offended. Thus is gay! Now the fags are marching! UGH! I said marching, now I've made it miltant... The army is now dragged into this...
Don't say anything about gay, jews in the military, religions will be offended and god will kill a retard.

I don't have to tell you how these girls felt, they have already told us this.

I listened to a 12yr old black girl call a radio station on
Monday crying because she said she was hurt by this.

We as adults many times forget that kids including 19yr old college students don't take our adult "humour" as lightly as we do.

They're hurt more and crushed more, we adults can take it.

You don't know if being nationally humiliated will scar some of these girls for life.

Now I know you will jump on that stament but it's true.

Now you say you've had things happen to you however it was not known to everyone in the country.

When people see you they do not point the finger at you and say there he is you know the one that........

These girls will have fingers pointed at them when they did
nothing wrong.

Their achievments are what brought this on.

Had they stayed in their place and not excelled and not beaten Duke, Imus wouldn't have had anything to say about them.

They had to go and do their best.

It's their fault , not Imus'.

It seems ridiculous that Imus gets fired for a stupid joke. He has been a has been for at least 20 years. His schtick was bad, morning, drive time "humor" The are many jocks on the radio whose intent IS malicious and that that say hateful things on a regular basis. No one goes after them because they are skilled at keeping their hate in acceptable code words.

we need to realize, how hurt and offended moonie is by all this...
People seriously need to monitor what words they type...

how would feel losing the right to disagree with me?

This is where we differ.

Everyone owns themselves.

One has a right to call themselves whatever they'd like.

That is a right. You have a right to name your own child.

What you do not have a right to do is name someone elses child.

You do not have a right to call someone out of their name.

There is no right to that! That is not freedom of speech.

The forefathers were not thinking they had the right to call someone's wife, slave, brother, sister, a name.

It was for the feedom to protest and speak out against government.

But people want to feel that it also translate to what is the real root of the problem their lack of respect for others.

That's what constitutes freedom of speech today.

it's the medias fault, for constantly playing the soundbite over and over, or the 12 year old girl, would never have heard it, we need to clampdown hard. we must protect the children.

only blacks can say nigger.
Only gays can say fag or dyke.
Only men can say cock or dick.
Only women can say pussy and tit.
I see where this will take us...
I hope you like vanilla, b/c that's going to be the flavor of life. I can say that because I'm white, if someone black now uses the term vanilla to describe something bland or mundane, I can say they are racist. i feel so fucking empowered, thank you!

I hve a question: If a black man can call himself a nigger it's okay, like in a movie, but what if the script was written by a white man?
If we are living in a PC world, that is now being imposed, where do we draw the line?
All Tarantino movies must be pulled ASAP!

I have another dilema. My german last name is also a slang word for a dick. My asian neighbors last name is a slang word for a dick too. Now we both found this funny, so how do we draw the line, we joked about it together. So baiscally we can't talk like this anymore... We might make little german and asian boys cry!

i agree -
that's the bottom line.
there is no argument about free speech here -
it was a case of classlessness.

jb When we look back on what Bush and his cronies did to get us into a war which has so far taken 3k plus of the finest this country has to offer, this will seem rather insignificant. I wish our press was as intent on demanding decency in politics as it appears to now be on radio talk show hosts..

great post!
while its a tricky thing to differentiate free speech from a thought-police mentality..
many seem to use the notion of 'free speech' to spout any kind of crap and NOT be held acountable.
yeah, free speech, but what about respect and decency?
if you call a retarded person a name - is that free speech?

no one is defending his classiness. His job wasn't ever classy, he was a shock jock.
I want to know why so many white men in the media have been allowed to repeat the phrase over and over again on TV news, inflicting more harm than the orginal? Can't they bring in black people to say the phrase? They own it, you know!
Why?
The whole system is collapsing!!!

(black) must be pointed out or the ho effect isn't relevant, crying b/c she was subjected to further pain. White men on TV repeating the phrase repeatedyl...
We must shut down all media outlets and clampdown. The media is harming us, it's not safe for children to watch TV news.
