Honky Tonk Man I think Keith Moon put some Cherry bombs in his drum kit. Though, when he kicked it over they son discovered that he'd put a few to many in!

Reportedly. I think Townsend has since claimed that the headphones he constantly used in the studio damaged his hearing too.

I knew about the headphones being a contributing factor, i just thought I remembering him saying in an interview somewhere that the cherry bomb is Keith's drumset was the beginning of his declining hearing.

Sir Stonesalot Pick up a copy of the "The Kids Are Alright" DVD. They go into pretty good detail about this incident.

It seems that Moonie thought that the pyro guys were being pussies...so he helped himself to some of their black powder, and added what he thought was an appropos amount. But you know Moon. If a snifter of brandy is good...then four bottles is better. He's lucky that no one was killed.
