RollingstonesUSA Of the 400plus songs they have if you were the producer of a 16 track Rolling Stones Studio album, What would be the Songs from the catalong and what would you name the album.

speedfreakjive first up;
1. Gimme Shelter
8th April 2006 10:40 AM
the good I would make it 18 tracks and call it Exile on Main Street.

Throwaway Ok RSUSA, ill take a stab...this is difficult BUT seriously I'd say
1.Brown Sugar (ultimate opener, that riff is heaven)
2.Jiving Sister Fanny (keep the uptempo mood)
3.Rip This Joint (fast fast fast!)
4.The Last Time (uptempo, but not as fast)
5.Beast of Burden (midtempo ballidish)
6.Wild Horses (ultimate ballad)
7.Moonlight Mile (6 minutes of bliss)
8.Winter (sickest ballad ever)
9.It's Only Rock and Roll (pick it up a little)
10.Sympathy for the Devil (nuff said)
11.Jumpin' Jack Flash (ditto)
12.Gimme Shelter (getting ominous)
13.Midnight Rambler (and darker)
14.Sway (still looking bleak, but rocking)
15.No Expectations (end making them want more after this song brings em to tears)

(Bonus edition of this includes Torn and Frayed and Shine a Light as tracks 16/17)

Soldatti It's impossible to make a 16 track album. I would make a box set with the big 4 albums (+ JJF, Child Of The Moon and HTW) and name it, the world greatest rock and roll band ever: the 50 reasons.

speedfreakjive maybe a better question would be;
Name an 18 song studio track album. The songs on it cannot be on any of the Greatest Hits albums, or have been released as a single.

1. Shattered (not on 40 Licks, i think)
2. Heartbreaker
3. I Got The Blues
4. 100 Years Ago
5. Let It Bleed
6. Live With Me
7. Salt Of The Earth
8. Soul Survivor
9. Luxury
10.Tops
11.Slave
12.All About You
13.When The Whip........
14.Torn And Frayed
15.Loving Cup
16.Sway
17.How Can I Stop?
18.Dead Flowers

Break The Spell Many have already said Exile which would have been my first choice, so I'll go with putting out a great collection of 16 actual rarities that have never been released, and of actual UNRELEASED songs!! Not just a live version of a warhorse that hasn't been released.

So is Sway a warhorse now? Shattered was on 40 Licks btw.

I just looked at the recent setlists, and I guess its not a warhorse since they played it 2 or 3 times in the last seven or so shows.

Yes because it's a tradition, even though it's false.

Throwaway It's impossible to put all of the Stones greatest on one CD, so a "rarities" studio album (with songs that are either unreleased/never or rarely played live/no airplay) could be...
1.Jiving Sister Fanny (when that riff its u cant stand still)
2.Tie You Up (why so underrated???)
3.So Young (great rocker, clean it up a little and it could be perfect)
4.Jump on Top of Me (not as upbeat but sleezy)
5.Parachute Woman (gettin bluesy..)
6.Ventilator Blues (and moreso)
7.The Storm (shoulda made VL)
8.Slave (funky and amazing)
9.Everything is Turning to Gold (also funky)
10.Through the Lonely Nights (gettin country)
11.Drift Away (proof the Stones do anyones songs better than they can)
12.Tops (slow it down)
13.Winter (makes you cry)
14.I Don't Know Why (awesome guitars, vocals)
15.All About You (let Keith finish it up)
bonus track: Highwire (great lyrics, riff, and solo)
