Dan I just found out I can in fact make it back from Anaheim on the bus late at night so the shows next week are starting to look real tempting.

You have seats, SCL, or are you going for the PIT? Friday is coming up fast.......
2nd April 2008 02:07 PM
sweetcharmedlife I got GA for Sac and SJ. But I don't think I'm going for the pit. Pretty content to just hang at the back of the floor.

PartyDoll MEG Here is a sentiment I love to hear:
(backsreets.com)
VAN ZANDT: "I'M HOPING WE TOUR FOREVER"
With Bruce and the E Streeters goin' Cali -- Friday night in Sacramento is the first of four -- the San Jose Mercury News has a new Little Steven interview today. Steve talks about Danny, Charlie, and the speculation that we could be nearing the end of E Street: "I think we've never had more fun than right now. I think [Springsteen's] writing is still evolving. I think he's just found a wonderful way to speak personally, politically, socially, spiritually, all in the same song. . . . Touring-wise, it's been complicated certainly with me and Max [also bandleader for Late Night With Conan O'Brien], and that will continue to be complicated, but I'm hoping we tour forever. I think we're still getting better. We've never been better than right now."

Well.. Leftie likes the soundboard..I loved the PIT..but either way..it is great!!!

Have a great time, SCL!! Look forward to your reports.

sweetcharmedlife Thanks MEG. Yeah Lefty's idea is what I had in mind. Plus I read on Backstreets that if your not in the pit then the back of the floor may actually be better than seats. Also heard that Murder Inc may make it's tour debut in Sac. It was on the setlist for Vancouver instead of RTB. But not played. I wouldn't mind hearing that. But otherwise I'm ready for the Tour of California to begin!

Ya Lucky Devil...3 fricken shows!!!!
3rd April 2008 11:10 PM
sweetcharmedlife The funny thing is. I didn't really plan on folllowing Bruce around CA. But not being a patient person the Anaheim shows went on sale first. So on impulse,I bought a ticket for Anaheim. Then of course the San Jose show and much to my surprise a Suckramento (er,sacramento) show. So the next thing I know is I'm going to 3 shows. Never really done anything like this. Other than catching 3 shows on the last leg of the Stones ABB tour in Oakland,Phoenix amd LA.....Plus if the subdivision leg wasn't already glamourous enough. I'm spending Mon. night in Burbank visiting some friends. Not exactly London,Paris and Rome. But it's only rock & roll. AND I LIKE IT!!

PartyDoll MEG I wouldn't have complained either, SCL!! You were right about Murder Incorporated.

I have no doubt that you will find the inner strength to do it all again tonite!! Take some Advil and go out there and get Brucified again!!!
5th April 2008 04:23 PM
sweetcharmedlife I think I'm catching my second wind already MEG. I should probably have more energy than last night. Worked all day then did the 2HR+ drive to Sac. Turned around and came back after the show. But a buddy of mine did the driving and loved the show even though he's not a big Springsteen fan. Stood in the back by the soundboard. Pretty much didn't have much of a choice by the time we got there. But what a show. Check your ballads at the door. Spirit In The Night was the radio station winner. So he opens with it. Amazing,Candy's Room was great. Little bummed when I heard Thunder Road was setlisted, but not played. Maybe tonight. First I need a nap.
5th April 2008 09:15 PM
PartyDoll MEG Show 2, SCL!! Are you ready for the heart stopping... booty shaking....viagra takin....E Street Band?

Hope you get Jungleland tonite...
6th April 2008 03:01 AM
sweetcharmedlife Two thirds of the trifecta complete. Now I know why you go to different shows if you can. This was like day and night from yesterday. Here is the drasticly different setlist from San Jose:

1. OUT IN THE STREET
2. Radio Nowhere
3. Lonesome Day
4. Gypsy Biker
5. Something In The Night
6. Magic
7. Trapped
8. Reason To Believe
9. Prove It All Night
10. She's The One
11. Livin' In The Future
12. The Promised Land
13. FIRE
14. Incident on 57th Street
15. Devil's Arcade
16. The Rising
17. Last To Die
18. Long Walk Home
19. Badlands

Grabbing signs... one said "You are my real dad"

20. Detroit Medley (sign)
21. Born To Run
22. Glory Days (a guy had it written on his forehead with a marker)
23. BOBBY JEAN
24 American Land

I believe someone on Backstreets said there was a 7 song change from Sac. I haven't compared yet. But totaly different style of shows. Fri.was a check your ballads at the door, blow the roof off kind of show. Sat. was a relax, take it easy, mellow kind of show. Trapped and Prove it were good. I know Gazza and others love Incident. I would have preferred Racing in the Street or The River and it didn't seem to go over real well. The show kind of plodded along for the most part. But oddly enough it seemed like the Magic songs at the end,Last To Die and Long Walk Home that seemed to get things going with the band and crowd. A rocking Badlands to end it. Detroit Medley was fun, even BTR seemed to have more energy at this point. Then yes, he did pull a guy out of the audience who wrote Glory Days on his bald head. Has it come to this? Then Bobby Jean. A nice enough song, but where is Jungleland or TR. Anyway, still a good show.I'm glad I went. Who knows what I'll get in Anaheim. Except for another fun ride with The Boss.
6th April 2008 09:51 AM
PartyDoll MEG I just love how he is "mixing it up" and paying attention to his fans. How can you fault that setlist, SCL!!?!!.. FIRE would have had me all hot and bothered!! But I can see where it was a less frantic pace than your first night.

Better take a sign for Jungleland on Monday..
(Damn- the one song you want... )

Gazza APRIL 5, SAN JOSE: NOW THAT'S USING YOUR HEAD!
Just down the road a piece -- only 90 miles from the previous night's show in Sacramento -- San Jose got a radically divergent setlist, with ten songs not played the night before, and a distinct mood shift all the way around. The playful, loose Bruce was largely sidelined, replaced by the more in-control bandleader. Whereas "party time" was the key word on Friday, on Saturday it was "orchestral." The sound was gorgeous, and it was the right show for that: a note-perfect "Something in the Night" and a stunning "Incident on 57th Street" being cases in point. The orchestral feel of "Bobby Jean," too, was highlighted in its tour debut as the next-to-last number. So, not nearly the frenetic, what-will-happen next feel of Friday, but by no means a letdown -- just another side of Bruce.

The radio winner, courtesy of KFOG, was the tour premiere of "Fire" -- and it was a blast, with Bruce and Clarence mugging and milking the Romeo and Juliet part for all it was worth. Rather than opening the set with the contest pick, as they did in Sacremento, Bruce put it in the middle (calling the poll a "fabulous marketing plan to put the fannies in the seats"). Instead, another tour premiere kicked off the show, the surprise debut of "Out in the Street," complete with aduience call-and-response. More shake-ups: "Trapped" had the whole crowd singing and pumping their fists; "Reason to Believe" was thankfully back in after just a one-show absence; Nils' spotlight number was "Prove It All Night" instead of "Because the Night."

Tons of signs, once again -- the "Something in the Night" placard Bruce grabbed was double-sided, so it was unclear at first if they'd be playing that one of "Streets of Fire." Either would have been just fine. "Incident Por Favor" was another granted request, and the audibled encore opener was played for a sign that read "Ain't Too Proud to Beg for the Detroit Medley." Bruce also held up a sign reading "Bruce, You're My Real Dad" as he recalled, "I was in these parts in 1969...." But the topper -- literally -- was a guy in the front of the pit with "Glory Days" written on his forehead in black marker. Bruce pulled him on stage and marched him over to the camera to give everyone a good look, then launched the band into the song, which drew a huge reaction from the crowd.

Next: A pair of Anaheim shows, Monday and Tuesday
