--------
Please keep Sam Myers in your prayers.
Just got off the phone with Anson Funderburgh and spoke to Sam Myers a few minutes ago. They hooked up a phone in ICU for a few minutes to allow us to call. His is stable and okay in ICU, and only there so they can keep a close eye on his breathing.
Anson asked me to let everyone know what's going on.
Sam will have surgery in the morning (Sat) at 9:30am to remove his throat cancer. It is a very agressive cancer, but thankfully they feel they can get it all and he'll live a long and healthy life after surgery. A voice box will be implanted and he won't be able to talk for 2-4 weeks. Voice boxes have been improved and are no longer like the squak boxes of ole. It will sound like a normal voice once he learns to use it, and he will only have to into the doctors office once or twice a year to have the implant cleaned.
When he arrived in Minnesota for the 2nd cancer treatment, the cancer had grown back too much too fast. He was to come home and have the surgery, but he got a fever and they had to hospitalize him since he recently recovered from pneumonia. This was a blessing in a way, as he really likes the doctor in Minnesota. So much so that if the doctor was a woman our friends with him said he'd probably marry her. This is good and a positive note, as those of you that know Sam know he likes compassionate folks like this doctor.
So for those of you that believe in the power of prayer, please include Sam in those prayers.
It's been a tough year or two and on top of all this, he lost his mom a few months ago and his dad will be buried tomorrow at 1pm in Mississippi.
To the many around the world that love him, please include him in those prayers.
Godspeed Sam - We Love You!
