Topic: Will "Shine a Light" make it into the top 20? Return to archive

Poison Dart The pre-sales at Amazon.com look pretty mediocre at this point. The highest I have seen the album is #19 at Amazon and the Stones tend to have higher sales on Amazon than in the general (Billboard) charts.

Granted, the world does not exactly need yet another live album by the Stones, but I thought that the album would debut fairly high (it still might) due to all of the press the film is getting.

Any ideas where it will enter the charts?

My guess is it will come in anywhere from #30 to #40.

I'm not sure the movie promotion machine has made it clear there's a companion soundtrack.

Judging from the movie, I'd say it's the most worthy live release since "Stripped."

Exactly. It's the same phenomonon, that happens when they tour. The tour publicity always overshadows the album.

mrhipfl good sales and reviews might make Mick realize that people like to hear loud guitars and rarities at Stones shows.
2nd April 2008 01:09 AM
glencar There does seem to be a lack of awareness about this movie/album.
2nd April 2008 03:09 PM
Soldatti The album could be Top 10 next week, on track to sell 35k+ copies this week.
