MarthaMyDear HEY!!! I know some of you here are going to one or more of the London shows (Gazza, me, Moonisuppie, etc.)... Maybe we should plan a little get-together, or something (a night at a pub or restaurant or something like that, etc.)?! I don't drink so a night at a restaurant or maybe some place like a club where you can dance and/or see a band or two, etc., would be better for me, etc., but a pub is fine, also!!! I know it's a ways off, but I just thought I'd post something about it now just in case some of you want to do that and you can keep a night open for that, etc.... So, let me know, folks, either here or through PM as I'd love to meet any of you silly folks, ok.?! Anyways, take care, PEACE, and ROCK ON!!!

shakedhandswithkeith hi martha,

I will be in London to, but I`m still looking for a hotel close to the Astoria. Can you help me??

PEACE
03-30-03 05:26 AM
MarthaMyDear HI, shakedhandswithkeith!!! I'm going with my girlfriend who lives in Texas and she has all of the details regarding where we're staying (I can't even remember right now?!)!!! lol... It's all going on her credit card and I just send her my share of the money, etc., 'cause I didn't have a credit card when we had to buy the tix and book our hotel room, etc., so... But, I'll ask her any suggestions on where to stay, etc., and post here about that or PM you about that 'cause she knows more about that than I do, ok.?! I have never been to London and she has so she knows what she's doing... LOL!!! Anways, I'll get back to you regarding that ASAP and I'll talk to you soon, alrighty?! And, if anyone else here can answer his question, also, go ahead, alrighty?! Anways, take care and have a GREAT day!!! PEACE!!!

Moonisup would be fun

Honky Tonk Man Count Me In!

There is no where to really drink near Wembley Arena. Found this little Irish pub, but it was just weird in there. Full of funny looking old Irishmen.

The Astoria is bound to have plenty of decent pubs near it. If everyone is prepeard to use the tube, i know a few decent places in Victoria. Places that i frequent.

I don't kno wabout Twikenham

littleredrooster I'll be crowing at Twick x 2, Astoria and Wembley!
We'll be staying with friends that live in London!
An RO meeting would be fun!
Would that make it tax deductible???
03-30-03 04:08 PM
Monkey Woman That should be fun! I'm for it.
I'll be at all 4 London shows so I'll stay there from Aug 22nd to Aug 30th. A friend and I are going to share rooms in a hotel in central London.
03-30-03 04:31 PM
Strange_Stray_Cat Yeah count me in as well!!
03-30-03 05:11 PM
Gazza No reason why, after the RO New York and Denver hook ups in September 2002 and January 2003, that we shouldnt have a "Rocks Off Europe" version. Especially as there are so many of you coming from overseas - it's the least we can do to welcome you all in our country, especially as its the first time here for many of you.

I'll be in London all week for all four concerts so whilst I dont live anywhere near the capital,it shouldnt be too hard to work something out for everyone to get together at some point during the week. Obviously it depends on many things as some people are only coming to the UK for a couple of shows at the start or the end of the week-long "season" of concerts! Theres a lot of folks from Italy, US,Canada,France, Holland, UK and other countries that I have some plans to hook up with anyway,so it would be kinda convenient to "kill all the birds with one stone" (ouch! excuse the bad pun..)

still plenty of time to work on it (5 months!!)

Some of you might also want to extend your "tour" for the soon to be announced 8 arena shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and back in London again (supposedly from Sept 1-15). All of these cities are accessible from one of London's five airports - often by "no frills" airlines which are actually cheaper than taking the train

as for hotels - I'll give advice to anyone who wants in whatever way I can. maybe we should design some web page on this or something for the "tourists"!!

you might want to try some of the following links for hotels:

http://www.lastminute.com
http://www.cheapnights.com
http://www.londonhotels-discount.com
http://www.allrez.com

if youre flying from the US, I found a website that specialises in discount flights

http://www.tiss.com

others worth checking out are:

http://www.travelselect.com
http://www.expedia.com
http://www.opodo.com
http://www.trailfinders.com

at the minute, airfares are very expensive - I think they'll probably be lower in a few weeks. I certainly found that to be the case last year when I was planning my US trip so you might want to keep checking the airfares for a few weeks and see

if any of you need any other info - mail me on [email protected]. Even if I cant help directly,I'll try and point you in the right direction!

MarthaMyDear Thank you, Gazza, for all the info. and the help!!! I'm just thinking about an informal-type of get-together (not a huge deal, etc.)... LOL!!! My girlfriend and I have plans for almost every day we'll be there but I would like to party one night with the cool and silly folks around these here parts, of course, HOPEFULLY!!! That sounds cool, Honky Tonk Man, about where to meet... I'm sure Gazza has some good suggestions on that, also!!! If there are ANY other good local bands to see, or something, that would be fun, also... I guess we have time, though, to plan this... ROTFLOL!!! By the way, thank you, Gazza, also, for that flights.com link!!! I'll probably be using that one to book me and my friend's flight, so thank you for the EXCELLENT info.!!! If I have time, I can put up a web page with this info. on it, etc., but my time has been REALLY limited lately, but I'll see, ok.?! If anyone can do it soon, go ahead, ok.?!

Anyways, thank you for the info., again, buddy, and I can't wait to meet you ALL!!! YIPPEEE!!! THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!!! Anyways, take care and ROCK ON!!! PEACE!!!

Nellcote With all of these smiley's, I now must go take my Ridlin, as my condition has reappeared. Now back to Peter Arnett and Geraldo Riviera, whom are riding a camel across the Kuwaiti Desert....
03-31-03 12:21 PM
jb You really reported me? LMAO!!!!
03-31-03 12:39 PM
jb You are the best!!!!
03-31-03 01:16 PM
Pattie

eh are you guys really mad at eachother?

anyway London sounds good, but its so expensive.
03-31-03 01:37 PM
Honky Tonk Man London CAN be expensive Pattie. However, if you know the right places to go, it can be quite affordable

Alex
03-31-03 01:39 PM
jb Yes and no Pattie.....it disturbs me the MMD would hold such a grudge against because of some of the obnoxious posts I have made. Having met many people from the board in New York, and talking to many other via private messages/chat room, I have learned that you really can't judge someone simply by their posts....I have never really had an unpleasent experience with anyone associated with the board except with respect to some of the political/war stuff going on now. I was genuinely annoyed that several months ago when out of nowhere, MMD said if I come to London to avoid her....I mean we are all Stones fans and I think she would have been pleasently surprised how civil, generous, and polite I am in person....Thus, there is a little animosity but I'm sure in time we will atleast try to be civil towards each other....In fact, I shall start it off by apologizing to MMD for the insulting post ....

Pattie
Jb,I hope you guys make up. And youve shown what a gentleman you are by saying youre sorry first.

Id love to go to London, the best shoes are in London, I can buy some new fake snake skin boots!
How many are going to the gathering? And where, Alex can you live cheap? any b&bs I should know about?
03-31-03 05:04 PM
Honky Tonk Man I have no idea how many people are going to the gathering or if there is evan going to be one. It would be nice though.

I don't happen to know any b&b's off the top of my head, but you should be able to find plenty on the net. I honestly don't understand why everyone thinks London is so expensive. Like every City, it has an expensive side but also a cheap side. It all depends on where you want to go, what you want to do and what you want to buy.

Alex
03-31-03 05:06 PM
Pattie
I wanna buy snake skin boots, theyre pretty cheap in London
03-31-03 05:43 PM
Gazza London IS expensive, Alex - not as expensive maybe as New York but you get better value there re: size of accommodation and food than in London. Other things about NY are cheaper though - such as public transport

Pattie - yes you can get reasonably inexpensive accommodation in london, especially B&B's. (I used to always stay at a terrific one just round the corner from Wembley when I was there for concerts or on business - sadly they sold up a couple of years back)

For most hotels, if its very cheap then theres a good reason why!
03-31-03 05:51 PM
MarthaMyDear I don't trust jb's apology but I'll accept it (hopefully not insanely) and him apologizing first doesn't mean ANYTHING, Pattie... He started the arguing, etc., in a previous thread this morning, so he OWES me an apology... Period!!!

As for the get-together, I can only meet-up one night, but people here are free to do what they'd like... I think I basically posted prematurely (it's five months away!!! lol...), but I'm sure the thread will be brought-up again closer to the shows in August... I'm glad a number of you are interested in meeting-up, though!!! Anyways, take care and have a GREAT day!!! ROCK ON!!!

MarthaMyDear Joey, no I don't (now... HE!!! HE!!! lol...), but I'm an ole "pothead" from days of yore... Frick it... I'm a "recovering" (should read SOBER AND CRAZY) addict and alcoholic and I'll have 12 years clean and sober next Thanksgiving (should read UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE)!!! I do NOT regret my drinking and drugging, though, but am GRATEFUL I found help... I have SOME fond marijuana memories (some really awful ones, also... Probably more awful than fond!!!), but actually I am highly allergic to it and it affects me awfully (I get EXTREME paranoia and would prefer to take harder drugs in its place so I'm better off being clean and sober... ROTFLOL!!!)... I love my lattes and my shopping, though, and I have my espresso machine here at home whilst I make lattes as often as possible and the same goes for shopping... ROTFLOL!!! I just got some new credit cards, so LOOK OUT WORLD!!! HE!!! HE!!! Just kidding... I hope... ROTFLOL!!!

Anyways, just be careful driving, young man, and don't overdo it!!! That's all I'll say, though, 'cause I don't like to be nagged either, etc.... lol... Anyways, take care, PEACE and DO rock on!!!
