Humiliating, with the exception of "She's So COld" and the four new tunes, every other song was featured on the Greatest Hits set, Forty Licks. If they are trying to be an oldies or nostalga act....they nailed it. Zero Interest from Japan, playing there was a mistake. Worst setlist of the tour by far.
5th April 2006 11:11 AM
Nellcote Gazza's point is a valid one.
Go check the setlists page on this site.
One will see that The Stones love consistant
performances, they do not mix things up often.
It happened during Licks, as they did not have
new product to tour behind.
Just because we do not like it, does not mean
we cannot enjoy it for what it is.
The Stones, still playing after all these years.
You will miss it when they are gone, or, you
will spend time pining away that you "wished" they would
play a more varied set.

Final thought, are you going to be the one to walk up to Keith or Mick and say to them "Your set list needs to be shaken up, you need to be playing different songs"?
If so, please bring video back to us, if the vid camera has not been bludgeoned ala Warwick RI 07/18/72...

You are now able to return to your regular programming..

great points...and yes, I am a lifer, I appreciate that they are just playing. I would have no problem telling them (Chuck would be the correct guy to talk to) that they need to shake up the set lists to maintain my full interest. If their response is to bludgeon me, than so be it, wouldnt be the first time.

marko Yep,they didnīt mix it up in 1981 up to 1995,or 1998.
But in
1981-82 most of the songs were from, some girls,ER and tattoo you

1989,songs from 1981,1983,1986 and 1989.
1994-1995,even 6songs from voodoo lounge album!!+lots of
gems at the time.shattered(was then a gem),rocks off, heartbreaker, its all over now, opening song not fade away.monkey man etc.......
1997-1999,lots of great songs,sister morhine,grazy mama,
the last time, new good ones like out of control, saint of me,thief in the night, you donīt have to mean it,little
queenie etc.....

Licks gave us great set lists, but i think tour was otherwise boring!
Same goes with ABB,and it just gets worse.......

am I incorrect or are they not putting people in the ON STAGE boxes in Japan? Perhaps punishment for lack of interest and a waste of a tour stop?
5th April 2006 02:40 PM
glencar They only need to throw in CYHMK into taht last blast part. Or PIB more often. If they dropped out a song once in a while, that'd add an element of surprise.
5th April 2006 02:49 PM
Saint Sway Keiths intro riff on CYHMK sounded really weak and wimpy 3 years ago.
I cant imagine that Keefs arthritic fingers are capable of doing the intro to that song any justice these days.
5th April 2006 03:27 PM
jb show was wide open...
5th April 2006 03:31 PM
gimmekeef Likely the last ever Japanese show....Out with a whimper too!....Hang on to your hats Aussies you may about to be..'Omaha'ed!
5th April 2006 06:10 PM
glencar Anemic sales almost always lead to a city getting Omaha'd!
5th April 2006 07:04 PM
maumau the worst setlist ever will be that with biggest mistake in
5th April 2006 07:18 PM
SeanDavies Love the set list. Just add Wild Horses and perfect. These songs are ROCK AND ROLL CLASSICS. Sure I like the less played stuff and there are a couple of songs I'd love to see them perform but watching these legends perform their classics every three or four years does not bore me. I think you guys are stones snobs.

The Stones NEVER bore me. We just know what we're missing and appreciate all of their music. There's so many songs I haven't heard live, but I'm ecstatic to go no matter what they play.

You like using the word humiliating.... In fact you are right. But Japan is not to blame. The Stones are to blame they have so little fantasie these days.

pdog After reading this thread, I've decide to commit Hara-kiri...

6th April 2006 07:02 AM
corgi37 Ah, ya'll just a bunch of whinging, whining, whiners.

I predict Australia will get the set list from Heaven. Come on, Memo from turner, soul survivor, black limousine.

Er, would you believe Winter, hey negrita & might as well get juiced.

Would you believe, start me up, iorr & bs?

And, as JB obviously knows so well, me and Daeth are gonna be laying down in the seats, enjoying personalised bar service, as no one is gonna be in Sydney.

I planned to stage dive onto the crowd, but obviously, aint no one gonna be there to catch me.

6th April 2006 11:31 AM
pdog The Stones will deliver corgi, and you will recieve... But!!! For the grace of GOD!!!
