Ten Thousand Motels Eric Clapton will perform in Red Square, Moscow
Jazz News Service
4-4-06

Completing his previously announced European tour, Eric Clapton will perform a final, historic show for this leg of the world tour on August 3, 2006 in Red Square, Moscow. The Russian date wraps up the tour which begins May 5 in France and will travel through 14 countries. This will be the first time Clapton has performed in Red Square, following in the footsteps of major artists such as Paul McCartney, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti who have all performed in the famed location, in addition to last year's historic Live 8 concert.

The Red Square show will feature The Robert Cray Band as support act as well as the tour band which consists of: Eric Clapton, Guitar, along with Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks also on Guitar, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on Keyboards, Willie Weeks on Bass, Steve Jordan on Drums, The Kick Horns: Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, and Tim Sanders on Brass, and backing vocals by Michelle John and Sharon White.

ListenToTheLion Maybe they can put Clapton in that tomb of Lenin on the Red Square. He is a living dead for almost 30 years now.

Break The Spell Contempory Clapton is one thing, but I like all the great stuff he did with the likes of The Yardbirds, John Mayall, Cream, Blind Faith and the early solo records.

They're not. They are playing in St Petersburg on June 13th. The G8 summit is July 15-17.

GimmeExile Actually, Clapton is really the only artist from the 1960s whose albums continue to be commercially viable.

theanchorman Not sure about his newer studio stuff - but Clapton still smokes live...He did some great stuff on the Cream reunion.

If someone of his caliber was playing lead guitar for the Stones instead of that hack Ronnie Wood - the Stones would be 20 times better...
