Of course Strummer and many of the punks were stones fans, at least the early stones. They just rebelled against what they were by the mid-70's, seeing them as bloated jet-setting millionaires out of touch. Some confuse not liking what the "old guard" had become for hating their entire output.
That's EXACTLY the point I was trying to get across. |

It was the Sex Pistols that Especially hated "Mick Jagger", Playboy and other shit. Their creator who owned a kink clothing shop made a shirt whith a list of "likes" and "hates" on it.
Punk was supposed to be about anti-commercialism yet it imploded into it. The bands around today are actually about their true feelings. Bands that most of you don't know of.
If you have heard about the SUBHUMANS, (from the UK) Still tour in America every year since they started in '80. They split shows with Black Flag. ( I HOPE you've heard of them!)
Ever hear of CRASS???

The only band that the mid-70s punks (Pistols, Clash, Ramones, etc.) truly respected was The Who. This is inarguable, it's simply a fact.
Cobain was once quoted in Rolling Stone magazine saying how, when he was a kid, he always used to think guys like Keith Richards were cool because they were drugged-out junkies. But he was more a fan of punk (Pistols, Pixies) and metal (Zeppelin, AC/DC) when growing up. |

Kurt was a drugged out junkie who blew his brains out, so how much of what he says really matters...? |

Strange that he was a fan of the Pixies when he was "growing up." Cobain was less than two years younger than Black Francis, the Pixies's leader. |
