As great a virtuoso Taylor was at times I found his extented fast leads at end of songs took away from the grunge edge that I love about The Stones.Like he was on his own not in the groove with Charlie/Bill/Keith.....

Keith has always said Taylor wasn't great at rhythm guitar. I disagree; his chordal fills on "Midnight Rambler," for example, were brilliant. But there were times when he could have played less.

for me, it was that contrast that added to the grunge.
the stones music always had a certain nasty grime and i love that - but mt's fluid, melodic grooves and lines gave their music something unique - in 72-73, he turned ycagwyw into a hymn.

Mick T firing away chord after chord....look at the intesity of that band compared to the Ronnie era...what a pity that man left.

Ronnie 78 blows doors off Taylor...None of them had it going like they did in the 70's in the 90's....

No question 78 was Ronnie's best, but still pales in comparison to the Taylor era.....Would you rather see the 78 Stones or the 69-74 era Stones? To me, it's an easy choice, and I saw the 78 Stones.

I would prefer 78 simply because they had a larger catalog to work with (Some Girls was incredible), well and I prefer the Keith/Ron interplay...

Taylor's obviously a better player than Ronnie, but Ronnie mixes better with the stones.

Can't we see this level of playing in the Stones just one more time? Just five minutes?

i wish i was old enough back then to go to one of there concerts
people...i was only 10 years old then.
today i love to watch their vintage music...especially the 60's stuff. the 70's stuff i have a bit of a hard time with sometimes just because they were so cranked up on whatever it was they were cranked up on and it all seems a bit raunch sometimes....
those must have been some times for sure...and then then football knickers uniform came around and so did they...much better. i mean just chec out the hampton 81 dvd...moi bueno.
