Ten Thousand Motels As the Beatles were eliminated, it seems to be down to two. Can we solve the problem?

Ten Thousand Motels BOB DYLAN - Mozambique Lyrics

I like to spend some time in Mozambique
The sunny sky is aqua blue
And all the couples dancing cheek to cheek
It's very nice to stay a week or two
And fall in love just me and you.

There's a lot of pretty girls in Mozambique
And plenty time for good romance
And everybody likes to stop and speak
To give the special one you seek a chance
Or maybe say hello with just a glance.

Lying next to her by the ocean
Reaching out and touching her hand
Whispering your secret emotion
Magic in a magical land.

And when it's time for leaving Mozambique
To say goodbye to sand and sea
You turn around to take a final peek
And you see why it's so unique to be
Among the lovely people living free
Upon the beach of sunny Mozambique.

MrPleasant Why "Mozambique", TTM?

It's the dumbest song from Desire; dumber than the one about Crazy Joe Gallo.

Without Dylan's influence, maybe there would not had been a "Who's been sleeping here", a "Jigsaw Puzzle" or a "Memo from Turner".

Doxa "Without Dylan's influence, maybe there would not had been a "Who's been sleeping here", a "Jigsaw Puzzle" or a "Memo from Turner"."

Well, that wouldn't been a very big loss, right? (and you can even add "Indian Girl" in the list)

Seriously, I suppose Dylan's influence is much bigger than that. But then again, HE was influended by the English rock bands..

All I hope is that The Stones will follow Dylan's example of doing masterpieces in the late of their careers.

Martha Dylan 100%

Stones 100%

What are we comparing exactly?

It's impossible to compare musicians to one another in this way.

We need all of them!!!!

NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From your mouth to God's ears. I'm afraid that just ain't gonna happen with the Stones, as Dylan's late-period masterpieces were made as a conscious antidote to the mainstream. I've got no problem with the mainstream -- I'm no indie snob -- but Dylan realized, wisely, that he couldn't compete there anymore, so he opted out. The Stones haven't given up that ghost yet, which is why their last few albums have been so wobbly -- good, occasionally great, but not masterpieces.

stonedinaustralia good points mel - the biggest thing for me is the fact that dylan is a one man operation - he can pick his course and follow it at virtually a moments notice

the stones on the other hand are now a lumbering corporate behemoth - with it's two CEO's apparently divided to some degree (as evidenced by the glacial way in which the band has operated over the last 20 years) as to the direction the band should take and how it puts itself before the public

unfortunately, i just can't see the stones taking up something like "The Never Ending Tour"

Lazy Bones A touch rhetorical for a Stones board, don't you think?

MrPleasant And no "Sympathy For The Devil", while we're at it.

"(It) started out as a Bob Dylan song and ended up as a samba". - Keith.
