Topic: Songs The Stones should've written? Return to archive Page: 1 2
March 30th, 2005 03:08 AM
padre It seems that in the last two decades many of the best Stones songs were actually not by The Stones. You hear the opening riff and think "Oooh, a brand new killer track from the mighty Stones", but when the singer steps in, you notice that it's not a Jagger/Richards tune.
I'm planning a compilation cd of them. I'm sure you can help with the rest of the tracks. The ones that come to mind right away are
Love Removal Machine (The Cult)
Jammin' Me (Tom Petty)
My Favourite Mistake (Sheryl Crow)
By Your Side (Black Crowes)
Old Weakness (Delbert McClinton)
Make You a Believer (Sass Jordan)

What else?

J.J.Flash Great thread!

Muttafuckas......I swear the God... this is perfect.... I'm sure as hell you will agree after listening "Novocaine" from the brilliant last Alice Cooper album, "The Eyes of Alice Cooper". Please, try to listen to this one. They perfectly sorta paid homage to the Stones, souding as Keithish as ever.

You won't regret!

Hey Irrestible......I missed your e-mails. Where are they?!?

Joey....may be a Mickael Bolton "best of" or a Phil Collins "greatest hits" could improve this sad situation

Bloozehound I was listening to Lucinda William's "Rightously" the other day and I'll be damned if the songs groove and intertwining guitar solos don't get very "Sympathy for the Devil-ish" at times

kinda off topic, but I seem to remember reading in an interview Keith saying that the one song he wished he had written was Memphis, Tennessee by Chuck Berry
