beer O.K. new tour hopefully on the horizon. You can bet that they're gonna pull out some more unplayed songs for us. Pick any 3 songs that you would love to hear and see them play. Granted, there are songs on this list that will never be played (Gomper, etc), but hopefully some great songs may have a chance. who knows, it may work.....

My 3 choices are: SWAY, LET IT LOOSE, and WINTER.

ResidentMule what I'd like most of all would be for them to keep playing Hand Of Fate, Cant You Hear Me Knocking and Worried About You. there's definitly some in there like Highwire or The Lantern I'd like to see but will never happen. I always wondered why they never gave Child of the Moon another shot. I could see that one happening. Ventilator Blues would kick ass too, its a shame it never made it into the Licks Exile theme shows - I cant think of a good reason why not. maybe they could show Steel Wheels some attention with Hearts for Sale or Break The Spell or Almost Hear You Sigh

I'm sorry,, 3,,, what?
03-28-04 02:20 AM
beer "Time waits for no one" is an excellent choice, but i think it could only be performed with a certain amazing guitar player...............

Dear Doctor would be incredible! They could totally pull that song out. it would be cool on the B stage.

absolutely! Child Of the Moon would be amazing! they did Ventilator blues in '72. it's available on boots, killer guitar solo too.
03-28-04 02:38 AM
ResidentMule i know they've done Ventilator Blues, but I think they should do it again. it HAS been 30 years...

wasn't Child of the Moon on of the webvote songs frm the B2B tour? I'm pretty sure they never did it anyway, just wondering if it hasn't been completely forgotten

She's a Rainbow might be kinda cool. i mean its usually typical of bands to play their greatest hits (not that I want a Hot Rocks setlist - just saying this was on 40 Licks) but this is one song I'm sure Chuck would ruin (and I like Chuck, but I don't see this working)
03-28-04 02:47 AM
beer i dunno fer sure. in that new stones book, charlie says that they practice Ventilator all the time, but it never quite works out.

As far as Child of the moon, there is a video for it that was made in '68 but i've never got a chance to see it. which is a bummer cuz i love that song. Brian plays sax if i remember correctly. have you ever seen the video?
03-28-04 02:51 AM
ResidentMule no, never heard of it
03-28-04 03:06 AM
beer someone else on this board suggested that the Beggars Banquet CD should include "Jumpin jack Flash" and the B-side, "Child of the Moon",. I agree with that that, BUT where the hell could they be placed on that album? There is no way that Sympathy couldn't open that album(i'm talkin vynil), and there's no way JJF couldn't open either. they are BOTH too strong of cuts, they are album openers.

and on the other hand, Satanic Majesties would've been way better if "Dandelion" and "We love you", replaced the 2 weakest cuts on that album.

corgi37 Sway, cocksucker blues and time waits for no one. Ronnis learnt Cant you hear me knocking, now he can try this bad boy.

**Hand of fate
my heart melted when I saw it listed on my "four flicks" birthday present
03-28-04 07:34 AM
John Wood I would love to hear Sway, Winter, and She Was Hot. My fourth choice would have to be Child of The Moon. If Jumpin Jack Flash and Child of The Moon were on Beggars if would without a doubt make this my all time favorite album.

T&A The criteria that I will use in selecting is:

1) Songs that have some degree of likelihood - so I'll use the Leavell-quoted list as a basis for that.

2) Songs that sound good on paper but have a greater degree of likely "success" based on the way the current band is playing (I'll rule out Slave, for instance on this one - I thought they sounded dreadful trying to replicate the very simple riff on the FF rehearsal segment).

3) Songs that have some possibility of staying staples in the setlist - not just one or two appearances. I'm assuming that that will be based on degree of familiarity with the masses.

Dear Doctor (gotta believe they can pull this one off with enough rehearsal - and I do think it has wide appeal based on the fact that BB is one of their most widely-known albums).

Have You Seen Your Mother Baby (seems like a possible opener to me. it's just time they took the lid off of this classic - instant popular appeal, I believe. go ahead and use your killer horn section - this song DEMANDS it!).

She's So Cold (tough choice between this and She Was Hot - I think this one would be easier to play and would have greater "legs" to it deeper into the tour.

03-28-04 01:07 PM
Gimme Shelter Jivin' Sister Fanny
I Don't Know Why
Sway
03-28-04 01:15 PM
beer Slave really sounded great in 4 Flicks. it probably has a good chance of being played.
03-28-04 01:41 PM
ResidentMule i think Slave is about as probable of a rarity can get at this point. I'd say chances are in favor of it getting played next tour, if only for the secret pre-tour show
03-28-04 01:48 PM
Monkey Woman Hard to pick... I'd say Slave, Jigsaw Puzzle, Sweetheart Together. But any never-play-before song would be a delight. Go Stones, be wild, be bold, surprise us next tour!
03-28-04 02:10 PM
T&A couple of things regarding Slave:

1) jagger opted out last time - didn't like the rap-vocal thing. not sure why he'd change his mind.

2) those who thought FF version of Slave sounded good - watch/listen again - the Stones are barely able to function. What sounds good is the actual album version of the song playing in the background.
