What does anyone think of Dirty Pretty Things?
Hearing their new tunes make me think that the actual sound of the Libertines was more down to Carl Barat (and Gary) - which might be obvious - while the melodies and lyrics were obviously Pete's forte.
I'm thinking its a bit like Mick and Keith's solo careers...ying and yang. |

I like Bang Bang, You're Dead, but I'm yet to hear anything else. I think it's pretty much an established fact that Doherty was the primal lyricist in the Libertines. I've never given too much thought as to who’s mainly responsible for the melodies, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they both helped each other out there. Yeah, I defiantly agree with you on the Libertines sound. That was down to Carl Barat. Listening to this Dirty Pretty Things track has confirmed that for me. Down In Albion and anything Babyshambles has recorded has a very different sound. |
