Funky Crow Thanks for the link.
Coked up and ratty would be two adjectives that best describe the band.
Some of the purest rock and roll that this band has played.
Who cares if there is a missed or bummed note. That's what make it rock.

Maxlugar There is an entire chapter dedicated to the Stones visit to SNL in some book on the show I read in the early 80's.

The cast members thought of themselves as the Rolling Stones of comedy so when the Stones showed up that week there was a lot of competition. They all partied real hard all week. When it came time to rehearse the songs, the Stones really wanted to impress the Not Ready for Prime Time Players and they did. These rehearsals clearly show that no one can touch these guys when they are on.

Anyway, by the time Saturday Night/ early Sunday rolled around they were coked up beyond belief. Mick's voice was shot. But I still think that performance is incredible. It was a crazy week.

Bruno Hey people, Iīm seeing the video at work without the sound, but by the way they look, the rehearsals must be better than the broadcasted performance! Am I right?

jb Woody was a bit cocky for someone paid for hire....he acted like an ass, and unlike Taylor, brought the worst out of KR.

There wouldn't have been a Some Girls if it hadn't been for Ronnie, so he had a right to be ... jovial ... in those days, at least.
29th March 2007 04:06 PM
Saint Sway when is Ronnie not jovial??

seriously, has there ever been a day in his professional career where he hasnt been bouncing off the walls like the court jester??

Nellcote No Wood-No Stones 75 to present.
Some will say great, most will not.
Keith probably dead by at least 1980.
Some Girls was a return to prominence last
seen by Exile.
Yes, read again, Exile.
I think the world of GHS, IORR, B&B however, many
parts flaccid, saccarin.
Some Girls had punch, and Woody was why.
Get back to me with proof otherwise.
I thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

Oh please! What a bunch of bullshit. If not for Mick Jagger there would not be a Some Girls! Not Woody. You think it's by chance he plays guitar on just about every track on Some Girls? It's because he WROTE or RIFFED damn near every track. Woody was a nice little buffer to have between all party's involved but Some Girls was coming no matter what. It might have been their last album but it was coming. Because of Mick Jagger.

LOL! If not for Woody there would be no Some Girls! Ha ha!!!

FotiniD Thanks for the link. Were they ever cooler than in 1978? Disillusioned, rough and at a milestone.
30th March 2007 12:11 PM
Mr Jimmy thanks so much for the link.

from pt. 1: "rhonda. ronnie. out of sight babe... literally.
ronnie you're part of the group."

i'd never seen this before and, for me, 78/79 is the ultimate stones.
the new some girls tunes, and the way they played them on that
tour, was what transformed my love of the stones into more of an
addiction and why i was labled as "that stones freak" in highschool.

when they played on snl it was still several months away from my
first ever stones show in oshawa 79 and that's a night i'll never forget.
it was in a very small hockey arena with only about 12 rows of seats.
most of us lined up outside for 3 nights on a particularly cold weekend
to get a shot at one of the 2 shows. rumours of 5,000 tickets per show
with thousands being given to the blind caused a lot of stress for those
of us who lined up for 3 nights for a chance at 2 tickets each.

this is how we used to get tickets:

oh that 70's hair.

great memories.

30th March 2007 12:17 PM
Saint Sway a lot of times the camping out over night for the tickets was more fun than the actual show
