Sir Stonesalot SIA...

Lotsa bad production values in the 80's for sure. I really hate the 80's drum sound...awful.

BUT!

There was a lot of really great music that overcame all that, and rocked n rolled regardless. IMO, the 90's was far far worse than the 80's ever was. And don't forget, the 70's gave us all that crappy disco, and singer/songwriter & vocal group crap. I think if you take a hard look, the 80's produced as much really great stuff as any other decade besides the 60's.

Honky Tonk Man I think SS raises some good points. I always beleived the 80's to be a poor dsecade for music, but it certauinly wasn't. There was a lot of top 40 junk at the time, like Wham, Duran Duran and so on. The who New Romantic scene is enough reason to dismiss the decade for starters, but then there were so many great bands at the time too. The Smiths were the greatest band from that decade by some distance.

Also, I forgot to put the Pixies in my list. Here Comes Your Man!

When " THE PETEY " switched over from his 1979 " Soccer Hooligan " look to his brand new 1980 " Wimpy Camp , New Romantic " period , he brought with him a whole new generation of bands ' Hell Bent ' on unseating THE STONES & THE WHO ---- none succeeded ( The Clash came very close ) .

W- W- W- W- What ?!?! ................Oh , sure ! :

" It's a Pity that ' The Clash ' broke up as I thought that they were a very good band " ( THE PETEY , 1985 ) !

Joey " Your Petey made you are .... "

< ------ Amen ! " THE PETEY " wrote most of his early eighties ' hit singles ' in the late 1970's . THE STONES / THE WHO remain a 1960's / 1970's act .

Ouch ! Little buddy --- You alright this morning ?!?!?!
