My dearest Stonesian pals, be aware that there is new Who out on the radio.
My friends, this new song I heard today is so terrbile that my car stereo tried to jump out the window on the Long Island Expressway this aftenoon. If not for some wires, it would have made it.

The most horrible piece of crap I've heard from a band that wasn't made up of Special Ed short bus jockey's.
Labratory studies have shown it makes white mice and young boys from Nebraska sterile.
Why oh why did they not stop when the great Keith Moon died??? I'm starting to think he somehow saw these kind of songs in a vision of the future and killed himself.
It's bad enough they released Face Dances, but do they now have to release the left overs???
Thank God we still have Stones!

I was driving to school today and missed it - it was on right after I had to get to my first class. Hoping to catch it on the way home, but fuck, bad news if it sucks. The press release said it was an "Elvis tribute" or something which set red lights off for me... but we'll see.

Townshend is fucking rich. The "Reunion tours" were done because Entwhistle and Daltrey went broke in the late eighties. (Pete wrote almost every hit the Who had. He lives a life of luxury selling his music to commercials for significant profit.)
I just requested it on ZLX here in Boston, so lets see how it sounds. I'm getting "Real Good Looking Boy", which isn't the song Macky heard, so let's see if it's any better.

Wow.
Keith Moon would not have let that on the radio. Neither would Entwhistle. The rhythm section that made The Who "The Who" is gone.

Where are the fucking drums? Where is the driving bass?
It's not a *bad* song, it's just done incredibly poorly! I could totally hear this song as a rave-up with crashing, rolling drums and wild guitars and a rollicking bass line...
...oh good, the radio's put "Love Reign O'er Me" on. Real music.
Sorry, but "Real Good Looking Boy" sounds like nineties alternative garbage.
That being said, I think I'll try to get my band to cover it and make it sound good. Because it's not a bad song... it's like that annoying girl who covered "Fell In Love With A Girl". Not a bad song, just a bad rendition. Problem is, this ain't a cover. We'll put it on an EP called We Beat You At Your Own Game and send it with a couple of our originals.
Fuck, Pete, I want rock and roll, I want rolling drums, I want a lead bass, I want that energy The Who brought to everything they did. This sounds laid-back and boring... fuck, man, I'm listening to "Love Reign O'er Me" right now... it's a ballad, but it's *intense*. This song don't have what "Love Reign" does, and that's that.
Guitar's the only thing that sounds like the Who on the track. Too bad there's no Who behind it.

LONDON, England (AP) -- Pete Townshend has said he considered suicide after his arrest on suspicion of possessing child pornography, and the stress he suffered was apparent in a BBC documentary shown Tuesday night.
The program, following police investigations of several different child pornography cases in Britain, briefly focused on The Who co-founder's ordeal.
He was arrested in 2003 as part of Operation Ore -- the British arm of an FBI-led crackdown on Internet child pornography -- and eventually cleared of possessing pornographic images of children. But the rock guitarist was placed on a national register of sex offenders as part of the formal police caution that he received for accessing a Web site containing images of child abuse.
The "Police Protecting Children" documentary series by the British Broadcasting Corp. showed an exhausted and deeply worried Townshend being questioned by police after scores of journalists gathered to watch his house being searched, and computer equipment removed for the investigation.
Dressed in a winter jacket and a T-shirt, with deep bags under his eyes, Townshend apologizes for having gone onto the Web site for research aimed at starting a campaign against child pornography.
"The first images I stumbled upon ... really burned me up," said Townshend, 58. "One in particular showed a young boy being sodomized. I think that's about the worst thing I've ever seen. I was angered by it," he said. "I thought my son, who is a young boy, could easily stumble on this."
Sighing deeply, he said: "I apologize for the trouble I've caused. I feel terrible about it. I was trying to do something useful, and I was foolish and stupid, and arrogant is perhaps the word."
After the ordeal, Townshend told a British newspaper that it had been so difficult "if I had had a gun, I would have shot myself."
Following the four-month investigation, police said Townshend "was not in possession of any downloaded child abuse images" but had accessed a site containing such images in 1999.
