Topic: Fanfare for the Common Starf*cker - volume 1 (1975 tree) Return to archive Page: 1 2

mac_daddy looks like all the other threads about this one slipped into the archives...

to make it easier, let's try to keep all info regarding this first volume of the tree in this thread. that would include the discs marko is seeding from the NY and LA shows, as well as the two LA shows that I am sending out. thanks
02-22-04 09:51 AM
mac_daddy I have finished burning the discs for all the branches. I am packing them up today, and they will all be sent out tomorrow morning...

here is the info on the two sets I am contributing to this volume. FPM-C10, I am sorry I didn't get this out to you sooner. I will try to dig up some pics from these two nights and send 'em off to voodoo. I have also sent him the cover art that came with 7/13...

* notes: This two disc set came from a tree offered at the Rolling Stones Boots group. The source discs that all the branches received were heavily clipped, which produced numerous audible aritfacts. Some people whined about the sound qualty, and apparently, the seeder tried to reduce the distortion and redid the seed discs; I never received them. Anyway, I EAC'd the original set, ran the WAVs through a post limiter (which did an astonishing job of removing the artifacts), and burned the WAVs to disc for all the RO branches...

notes: This two disc set was used as a primary source for the infamous "L.A. Friday" bootleg. I am assuming that the reason for the latter's title is due to the fact the bootlegger couldn't pass on the opportunity to add the "Friday the 13th" mystique to the release, but July 13, 1975 was a Sunday. A number of recordings of this performance circulate; "Who Went to Church This SUnday?" is the best sounding of all of them.

* CDs have L.A. Friday Forum 1975 and the Trade Mark Of Quality pig on them. CD case has a label with Gold Cd! Limited Edition Digitally Remastered on it.

branch tomorrow!
02-24-04 03:37 PM
marko Oh yeah, and listen KEITH on gimme shelter 7.12.75!
02-24-04 06:12 PM
mac_daddy >>> The New York really kicks ass.

yes - the 3 disc NYC show included in this volume of the tree is indeed excellent. I have long believed that YCAGWYW is the finest rock 'n roll song ever written; the performance of the this tune on 9/26/75 is the finest I have ever heard. Cherry Oh Baby is a nice treat, and while the Symathy encore is a bit sloppy, it is the fitting nightcap of an excellent show...

>>>Oh yeah, and listen KEITH on gimme shelter 7.12.75!

I haven't listened to this recording yet...

>>>NO,except,i suppose they ALL are Mike Millard tapes...

he was a West Coast guy; I don't know if he ever taped in NYC. I was really inquiring about bootlegs that these came from, and generation detail, etc.

Again - many thanks for setting this up, as well as for the discs...

03-01-04 08:42 PM
mac_daddy the inner ring of the discs should be marked...

the one with the numbers ("1" and "2") is July 11, 1975...

the one with one and two dots is the July 13 show...

jpenn11 To any of the branches: please consider taking me on as a leaf. I've read the US part of this tour was fabulous and was really looking forward to participating in this tree. (I've only been able to obtain a somewhat defective copy of the 7/13 show.)

Unfortunately, I cannot hook up a burner to my computer, so I can participate only as a leaf at this point.
