VoodooChileInWOnderl PARIS' PARTY OF THE WEEK

GONG for the coolest party of Paris Fashion Week must go to Another magazine's "Masquerade", which drew Mario Testino, Bjork, Mick Jagger, Philip Treacy, Alexander McQueen, Erin O'Connor, Roland Mouret, Bridget Hall, Amy Wesson, John Galliano, and Kate Moss (naturally, as the editor's girlfriend) to the beautiful L'Hotel du Rond-Point, off the Champs Elyse. As the latest offering from British party perfectionists Nigel Peters and John Beach (also responsible for London Fashion Week's legendary Jil Sander party), it was bound to have a high fashion head-count, having devoted the ground-floor of the three-storey palatial hotel to an exhibition of designer masks, including a dripping wax head by Alexander McQueen, a black felt hat with built-in red satin eye patch by Jeremy Scott, a fine straw mesh helmet by Philip Treacy and a chocolate and silver coated mouthpiece by Naomi Filmer, which have so far raised an estimated 16,000 euros for the Elton John AIDS Foundation (with some still accepting bids at www.eltonjohn.com). The top two floors were given over to dancing (including a show by top choreographer Michael Clark and an unscheduled performance from a troupe of Miguel Adrover devotees from New York, including one joker who was all too happy to prove that he was knicker-less under his pinstripe kaftan), posing, chatting (to a lesser extent) and supping the drink of the evening, Bay Breeze (a Sea Breeze with orange instead of grapefruit). PLATINUM NIGHTS

THE fashion pack found a new home away from home during Paris Fashion Week. At the end of the long schedule, which included up to 13 shows a day, the front row could be seen whooping it up at Pink Platinum, the plush strip club which opened off the Champs Elyse in January. It may be the city's first lap-dancing club, but it comes from good stock, owned by American club promoters David and Cathy Guetta, who are also responsible for former fashion favourite Les Bains Douches and Middle Eastern restaurant Tangia, where John Galliano threw last season's post-couture party. Among the top table types seen this week quaffing Champagne (at 950 euros a pop) on Platinum's TV-screen floor or sitting at the banquettes about the central "catwalk" (designed by Philippe Starck's former assistant Imad Ramouni) were Mick Jagger, who raised eyebrows by joining his own daughter Jade, Patrick Cox, Julien Macdonald and Christian Louboutin, the French shoe designer, who was obviously not too offended by the naked dancers' LA-style five-inch heels and brought his dog along for the ride. Unfortunately for the miniature white pooch, he barely got a whiff of the place, but spent the evening in a specially-designed doggy-bag in the coat-check. (March 15 2002, PM)
