According to Dean Goodman the Stones are going to tour on 2005 and are working on an unspecified project that necessitated the cancellation of drummer Charlie Watts' plans to tour Europe in the summer.
Here the article (about the box set with this inside):

I feel that the new album is being created as we speak. |

This mystery project better not be a movie, a god damn collection of live/unreleased recordings, a book, a fragrance, or a smatering of poetry.
It has to be a new album! It's been too long! |

I read a blurb somewhere that indicated this may be more than just a new album - perhaps a "boxed set" of unreleased material - the so-called on-again-off-again project. |

Same news at RollingStones.com in the "Band News" section:
http://www.rollingstones.com/news/
"The Stones' last studio album, "Bridges to Babylon," was released in September 1997. Amid rumors that they will tour next year, the band's members are working on an unspecified project that necessitated the cancellation of drummer Charlie Watts' plans to tour Europe in the summer."
Well, if the project necessitates the presence of Charlie in the flesh (and drumsticks?), it's got to be something to record... |

This from the web site of a local radio station in NY:
Rolling Stones Back on the Road
Rock legends The Rolling Stones are set to tour the world again next year.
The veterans - who only recently ended their 40 Licks world tour - agreed to go out on the road again after a secret recent meeting in Paris, France.
The huge tour, which is likely to last at least nine months, will net the band up to $360 million.
Once the dates are under way Keith Richards will be 61, Ronnie Wood 57, Charlie Watts 64 and Mick Jagger 62 - but the four piece insist they aren't too old to rock.
An insider says, "They love touring so much they're delighted to go out again. The Stones will tour forever."
