Friday nite I heard a band play "SLAVE" and it rocked!
it was former X-Pensive Wino, Charley Drayton's new band PEACEFUL KNEIVAL. Its made up of Charley on drums along with members of Black Crowes, Screemin Cheetah Wheelies & Lenny Kravitz band.
they busted out a loud and funky version of Slave that went into AC/DCs "For Those About To Rock" and then back into "Slave"
1st time I've heard a band attempt Slave live. Wish it could of been the Stones but a Crowes/Wino's collaboration is pretty damn close! |

I caught the show in NYC at Tobacco Rd on Friday. Peaceful Kneival is just a side project that these guys do for fun. They do a show of all crazy covers... funk, soul, rock.
sorry Bluzian but no Marc Ford or Craig Ross. (Marc's album is my favorite current CD by the way. Best album I've heard IN YEARS)
As for Peaceful Kneival the band flat out rocks!! So much fun live! CHARLEY DRAYTON is simply insane on drums. He is such a bad mofo! The rest of the band is Screamin Cheetah Wheelie singer MIKE FARRIS on vocals. Black Crowes AUDLEY FREED on guitar and fellow Black Crowe ANDY HESS on bass. The keyboard player is GEORGE LAX. Lax plays in Lenny Kravitz and Chris Robinson new band the New Earth Mud and he is THE funkiest keyboard player I've ever heard.
I dont know of many mp3 sites but I'll ask around. I did find this link to a live video of them
www.farrismusic.com/home.asp
or check in at www.tobaccord.com bc they'll occasionally post a live clip of them
they get together every couple of months. Mostly in NYC or in the South/Southeast. Its tough bc they all have very busy schedules. I'll post here next time I hear that they have a gig planned

I was just listening to "Slave" last night, love it. When was the last time RS did this live? |

I dont think that tbe Stones have ever played Slave live. I could be wrong but its not likely...
I wanted to add that Peaceful Kneival also did a thunderous version of Eddie Cochrans "Somethin Else". A tune the X-Pensive Winos used to open shows with.
and at past shows they've done a Stones-style send up of "Love Train". As well as a Faces-style cover of "Jealous Guy" |
