Topic: Must Have Stones' Boots? Return to archive
03-23-03 01:26 PM
Jumping Jack Joe I'm slowly but surely starting to add to my collection of Stones Bootleg cds. I'm just wondering what you guys feel are the "must haves". You know...the ones no Stones fan should be without. Which ones have the best quality and best overall performance? I'm particularly interested in the ones from the 60s and 70s (surprise, surprise). Thanks in advance.

Madafaka Wow! What a list Marko!
I wanna add just one more "13 Nervous Breakdowns".
Is a really funny boot with Stones bloopers
03-24-03 12:32 PM
Jaxx hi and welcome to the party. you picked the right place to pose your question and the great bootman, marko, has spoken.

other than the obvious ones mentioned i would add Stripped Companion to the list as well as Exile Revisited. this one has some great exile on mainstreet outtakes as well as diamond's in the rough of exile hits. live recordings from the 60s and 70s can be harsh on the ears unless you get yourself a soundboard recording. LOL. there i go again stating the obvious...........
03-24-03 12:38 PM
Jair Motta My top 5:

R.S.V.P. Revisited
Tropical Disease
Some Girls Sessions
Static in the Attic
Tattoo Too

Maxlugar I just want to put in special props for:

Phoenix '81
Shattered In Europe
The Woodstock rehersals.
Foot Tappers and Wheel Shunters
Handsome Girls
Brussels
and Fort Worth Express

Those are probably my favorites.
03-24-03 02:05 PM
marko haha studio outtakes are another thing.
03-24-03 02:14 PM
Lazy Bones Thanks, Marko for allowing no room for additions..lol!

Re: quality, however, one that always jumps out is Cold Steel Blue. I believe it's the 26-Feb-90 show from Tokyo. Fantastic quality w/ an amazing Sympathy.
03-24-03 02:20 PM
marko yea,,if you have La 10-19-89 show(sbd too),,then tokyo
2-24-90 has the same quality(alive&rolling).sound pure sbd
a bit raw&soft.i think that tokyo show is better than steel
wheels tokyo show,,,,,,,
03-24-03 02:27 PM
Maxlugar Marko, I need some '75. I think you said NY '75 is good.

Make for Maxy!
03-24-03 02:35 PM
marko yes.New York 6-27-75 also La 7-9-75 ,,,do you frisco shows
maxy?
03-24-03 02:51 PM
Maxlugar I have LA '75 and love it. The sound is not bad. I was in my record store and had them play the Cow Palace '75 shows and thought they were horrible so I passed on them. The sound sucked!

Compared to LA how does NY sound?

03-24-03 02:54 PM
marko new york is better!
03-24-03 03:29 PM
Maxlugar Oooooooo!

Maxy wants!
03-24-03 06:26 PM
Joey " Essen '81 " is very good as well as " AmsterDam '69 " .

Pete was in an especially good " drugular state " for those concerts .

Also like " Hello Mountain People '00 " and " Hershey '02 " Soundboard , but the Entwistleless WHO is shattering to hear .

" God I really miss Thunderfingers Ronnie "

JOESY !

I have a sbd of Detroit, 28-July-75 that has always been a favourite of mine from 1975. I don't believe/recall that it's a complete recording though. I think it's only 85 mins (?).
03-25-03 04:52 PM
marko yes,its not complete. Its from HTW-B.sugar.i have filled
mine with aud part, the rest of the show.
