Gimme Shelter Just got this off of StonesNews-Dot-Com:

Ok - as could be heard/read in the fan-forums, the rehearsals could be set up on May 23rd in London. That would be less than 2 weeks before the first show of the new tour, but everyone is still 'warm' from the recent leg of the tour and things can be picked up fast, I guess.

Anyhow - there's lots of fellow fans in London who will keep us informed about the songs rehearsed. This truly is some of the most exciting moments befor a tour, IMHO. I can very well recall my excitement when the news spread that they rehearsed CAN'T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKING some years before - a song which I always admired and always wished they would play live - but never thought they would. But then it actually happened - right after they rehearsed it...

gimmekeef Yes the buzz of rehearsals is always a good thing..Remember a rumor in Toronto that "Werewolves of London" might be a possibility...Would think that would be an awesome tribute..and great stadium sing a long?

Jesus. According to Mick, most people at a Stones audience these days dont know any of the band's catalogue outside of whats on 40 Licks. What makes you think he'll be convinced theyve even HEARD of Warren Zevon? Some of them probably think the Stones wrote 'Like A Rolling Stone'

oldkr I heard that the last week of may is a go for london based rehearsals - good to see similar rumours floating

OLDKR

Throwaway I never understood why they had to rehearse Miss You and the like before every tour. While I can understand rehearsing a warhorse that has been rested (see: Gimme Shelter in 89, hadn't been played since 75 I believe), is it really necessary for the boys to rehearse IORR again after playing it every tour for the past 17 years? If anything, they should be playing the Love You Live (or Ya Ya's, or Still Life, etc) versions of these songs to recapture the rocking live feel that many of the warhorses once had.

yeah, but not since forever. hell, to me it would nice to hear.

since many of the up coming shows are outdoors, i have a feeling they will play most of the same songs as the did here in the melting pot...which is ok, i guess.

i still love the stones.
