GotToRollMe I've uploaded the Masonic Hall show again. I had to make another .torrent file anyway, so I included drno12's artwork, and the text file is slightly altered. The actual FLAC files are exactly the same though, so if you're seeding this or picking up on an existing download, just copy and paste your FLAC files into the new folder.

Hopefully we can get a better version of this great soundboard soon, but until then this is the best there is. Please don't crucify me.

**Eventually used as a bonus track.

These Bigger Bang early mixes were acquired through the Soulseek file-sharing network. In July 2005 this guy was working in a place in New York City which shared a storage facility with Sterling Sound, where the album was being mastered. He was going through their server one day and saw a file marked "Rolling Stones." Being a casual fan of their music, he was curious enough to make a copy on an AIFF file. Unfortunately, he had some storage problems at one point, and the AIFF file was lost. Fortunately, he still had the MP3 files he'd made. It seems that there's no prospect of the uncompressed versions of these surfacing, so it looks like we'll have to make do with these.

Many thanks to Gazza for unearthing these rarities!

Many thanks to drno12 for the beautiful artwork!

Thank you kindly GTRM.

Which source did Mickboy use for this "remaster"?

All the best,
Gonzalo

P.S: If anyone has any doubt if Mickboy "remasters" were lossy or lossless... well, I think these graphs from track 07 "As Tears Go By" are self-explanatory.

I wonder what kind of "remasters" does this guy do that all his final results are lossy recordings. Is this a joke or what ?

More graphs here:

Gonzalo, I very much appreciate your posts highlighting this lossy information. Is it possible that the master has a restricted frequency range or used compression? If so, wouldn't you need to know what source Mickboy worked with to determine whether he "introduced" the "losses"?

I am just trying to better understand how the "losses" are attributed to Mickboy's remasters, since Macdaddy indicates it is possible to use MD discs losslessly.

Thanks again for all of the info

smokeymtl I just got into Mass & Fetishes and it's real slow.
If some kind people have the time, a couple of seeds would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
7th March 2007 05:42 PM
mike1061 I have read that mickboy uses a mini disk in his remasters. I don't know how or why, but that would explain the loss.
Thanks Mike
