Daltey's hearing packs up

WHO frontman Roger Daltry is going deaf after years of being surrounded by high decibel rock 'n' roll.

Daltry, 62, says his hearing is so bad he no longer dares listen to rock and only has mellow music on his CD player at home.

He added: "If I'm playing anything at home, its probably classical, mainly because I haven't got much hearing left. What I have got left, I want to keep."

In spite of his hearing problems he is planning a European rock tour this summer with bandmate Pete Townsend - who also suffers hearing difficulties.

Maxlugar I shall have to learn to say "You suck! Please retire, again!" in sign language, apparently.

I would like to baste you in milk for 48 hours, hog-tie you and let hungry baby lambs skeletonize your quivering, quaking carcass.

Break The Spell Here's hoping having the mellow music spining in his home will save whats left of his hearing, at least for another couple of years so I can see them this fall. I'm ready for the best Who yet!!
Roger, Peter Dennis, Zak & Pino
RIP Ox & Moonie

i thought that made you blind, not deaf...

and glencar's ipod comment is no joke. i rarely wear headphones anymore, and hate doing it, unless it is for a video game. i will not listen to music via headphones or earbuds again. and i wear plugs to every concert i attend, accept the forum (i forgot them at home, and i still have more ringing than i did before that gig, and that was several weeks ago)...

deuce I have Tinnitus and some slight loss. I also play guitar in a band. I wear plugs and pay attention to volume than I used to, but still - reading things like this almost makes me want to chose a new career path.

I'm at a crossroads...
I want to respect the wishes of my fellow posters, what should I do?

I like all of 'em, espceially the one that alternates between Bushie, Karl Rove the kittie killer and the republican "fucker" one. To me their humorous and witty rather than "low class" and they add true personality and individualism to Rocks Off. I say keep them and add new ones from time to time.

keeping them means I don't get to Dl a certain torrent... It sucks to be given an ultimatum...
BUT!!! I'm a big fan of power hungry dictators, I do respect the course of action, regardless of how it was used!

I suppose if you want that torrent bad enough then you'll have to do away with them, but personally I'd miss them all. If some don't like looking at them, its not like they can't scroll past it all.

pdog, although you have a right to select your own avatar and signature comments or pictures, the way I look at it is as if I were a vistor to Rocks Off. Is it inviting?

Essentially, you're contributing to the "look" of Rocks Off.

A good point...
It's a matter for the moderators, who run the board... And it's subjective to a persons tastes...
Let's not forget, it's a Stones board, and right wing christian morals are hypocritical and un-Stones IMO.
What would Keith think?

Exactly, it was the type of humor Pdog and Joey display that attracted me to this board, in addition to having lots of fellow Stones fans. So the mods should also know the avatars and sigs do good as well.

I have had tinnitis since 1989..at first, really scary and diotracting. over the years , get use to it andmask it at night wirth sound machine. recent shows have not helped..yet, not hearing loss, just more ringing, It results in irreperable and permanent damge to inner ear , and even reoving nerve conduits, has proven ineffective.

Egbert I have tinnitus in my right ear and it's slowly driving me insane.

Go to a specialist and see what they say...use of a sound device is helpful and see what your doctor suggests to relieve your anxiety. Good luck.

Reminds me of a certain guitarist in an English rock band, hmmm...Too tough to die!!

JaggerLips Mick Jagger wears ear plugs onstage as I'm sure the rest of the Stones do, don't think any of them have hearing problems at all.

It's their own fault the Who!

GimmeExile What role does genetics play in hearing loss?

As with smoking cigarettes and getting lung cancer, the case studies for hearing loss vary widely. Some people who have been subjected to excessive volume over time suffer hearing loss while others with the same history don't.
