Ten Thousand Motels WOOD RECREATES ROCK AND ROLL GOLD

THE ROLLING STONES guitarist RONNIE WOOD is organising regular rock gigs at London's THEATRE ROYAL with his legendary pals, in an effort to resurrect the impromptu collaborations that defined the 1970s.

Wood recently performed at the illustrious venue with Stones frontman SIR MICK JAGGER (13MAR05), and initially intended the gig to be a one-off.

However, the guitar hero, who has recently won a long battle against alcoholism, is now keen to recreate the heady days of the 1970s with a bevy of star-studded gigs.

A spokesman for the BROWN SUGAR star says, "It's all about recreating the jamming sessions of the 1970s, which Ronnie always says were his most musically creative days.

"He's planning to do a gig a month and is talking to various high-profile musicians about playing with him. But the whole idea is to be spontaneous: He's just going to get people down and see what happens."

Gazza Good to hear. I did hear talk last weekend that he was planning to another show a week or so later. Obviously, thats not going to happen so soon but this story seems to give the idea a lot of validity

Ten Thousand Motels Well that contact music site is a bit "tablodic", kind of like an online gossip sheet. I'd take what they say with a pinch of salt, but alot of times gossip ends up being true. The site's entertaining anyway.

After he's finished doing what recording he has to do, he's free to do what he wants until July.

With the amount of friends and contacts in the business Woody has, it's quite conceivable that he could find various musicians to play gigs with on a semi-regular basis until then. It'd be good for him to keep him musically active. The idea is actually quite workable.

The reality is that knowing Woody it will probably be another one of his bright ideas that never quite comes to fruition, like the Faces reunion and that "You strum it, I'll sing it" 'album' he's been talking about making with Rod for about the last five or six years.
