I'll be in Madrid starting on the 26th of June for a week on holiday (unfortunately I can't change the dates). Any chance the Stones will there at that TIME???

Lisbon will be June 25th and Paris June 16th, so a Madrid show will seemingly be at a different time than the other shows around then. Unless its on or around the 27th

Seems strange though as Lyon seemed a cert for June 18th. There seems to be a few last minute reshuffles with tour dates (which is the probable reason why the announcement was delayed another week) with Rome now being rumoured for the opener on June 1st. However, another report listed Barcelona for the opener on 27th May.

Looks like all the Spanish cities who missed out last year will get their show after all then, with the exception of Valladolid, as their city council refused to bid for the Stones again this year after last year's cancellation - San Sebastian taking their place.

Voodoo - will you be coming to Spain?

Not sure yet, and today is not a good day to think about it as I have The Who Cancelled with all plans ready for a big one. Also remembering what happened to Spain last year is another fact that makes me wait a little bit longer to take a decision, probably after the European Tour leg starts and seeing the sets I will take a decision. I have relatives and friend in Barcelona and Madrid but more in Valladolid, taht sucks, hope they reschedule Valladolid and add at least 20 more dates in Spain, they deserved it after the whole Spanish Tour cancelled last year

Aw, sorry to hear about The Who, Voodoo. Hopefully you'll have MUCH better luck with the Stones this year!

Thanks Voodoo. Incredible news. I assume this is for the 28th of June???? Just last night reserved my hotel room in Madrid for that very same week. This is an unexpected surprise indeed. Looks like I may be seeing the STONES in Europe after al1 (the family is on a London-Madrid two week holiday). I'm so excited.........

Gazza Apparently Metallica are playing the Bernabeu Stadium (Real Madrid FC) the following day (29th) as part of a two day rock festival.

The Stones' show will be at the Calderon Stadium (Atletico Madrid FC)

We plan on seeing only the STONES at Calderon Stadium after a full day of seeing the Prado & getting blasted. I'll leave Metallica for others to enjoy

Gazza Depending on whether or not the UK gets some indoor shows, I'm toying with the idea of a little trip to the Iberian Peninsula in late June. Depends which show is immediately after Lisbon. If its Barcelona or Madrid, I might think about that one as well as Lisbon as the flight prices arent too bad, with some cheap local flights thanks to vueling.com

Plus, I've never seen the Stones (or anyone) in either Spain or Portugal. I'd like to go overseas for a short trip and see a couple of shows, but some of the places I would have thought of seeing them - ie Holland and Belgium - appear to be festival sites in remote places which doesnt really suit.

I think Thursday will probably see them announce up to about 24-25 shows...

Probably something along these lines :

France - Paris, Lyon
Holland - Nijmegen
Belgium - Werchter
Italy - Rome
Spain - Barcelona, Madrid, El Ejido, San Sebastian
UK - London, Isle of Wight
Portugal - Lisbon
Greece - Athens
Croatia - Zagreb
Serbia - Belgrade
Romania - Bucharest
Germany - Frankfurt and maybe 2-3 others
Sweden - Gothenburg
Denmark - Copenhagen
Russia - St Petersburg
amd maybe a show each in Poland, Czech Republic and Ireland

Hopefully more will be added to that lot, ideally a few indoor shows. I cant imagine too many more stadium shows on top of those.

time is on my side I've seen one show in Spain (Springsteen in Barcelona, May 2003). It was one incredible experience. The crowd was insane & the show Bruce put on beat anything I saw him do back in the States during that same tour. A 3 hour plus marathon. It was strange in that the stadium show was so much better than the arena shows I saw him do earlier in the year. One would think just the opposite.

In contrast, during that same year, saw the STONES in Amsterdam (August) & it had to be the worst show I've ever seen them do though they had a great setlist. At the TIME, I thought Amsterdam with the STONES sounded like a great idea. Didn't realize the venue sucked. Also, they were scheduled to play the next day but then cancelled. Still had a great time though. Finding out about the cancelled show was a bummer.

I got the tickets for the Springsteen show with a group called Badlands who still send me emails. I remember them going off to see Bruce in Madrid while our vacation was coming to end. Heard later, Bruce put on another spectacular show.
